The Best Way To Install Guitar Tuners – Quick And Easy!
#addictedtogear #guitartips
Today I’ll take you through a step-by-step guide on the correct way to install guitar tuners or tuning machines on your old or new guitar. Like most guitar parts, the tuners that come on your guitar are often not much to shout about. A nice shiny set of machine heads can help your guitar’s tuning stability and offer a smoother tuning experience. However, the tuners are not entirely to blame for the guitar’s tuning stability especially if they are not installed correctly.

Thanks
is it ok to leave out the little screw? will it affect the tuning?
My first time doing this was on a Floyd rose and I forgot you can’t take all the strings off so then I had to have my friend hold down the whammy bar and then I slid the strings in and it took several hours. Now I’m doing it again on a standard
Thank you! I've just upgraded my Squier to locking tuners because one of the original tuners was broken and they were cheap.
oh dang i cranked my down
Getting something from this for sure. First stop for help!
Hi! I hope you can answer my question here. My husband is learning to be a luthier and built me a classical guitar. His first. He put the tuners on backwards, which is really awkward for me, having always tuned the knobs the usual direction. Like, the little gear is on top of the knob instead of under it. Does my description make sense? In order for that to change, does he have to unscrew and move the tuning pegs to the other side of the neck? Or can I just restring it differently to make it work? Like from the bottom instead of the top or the pegs. Help?
Thanks for this video, although it’s not a difficult job, things can go wrong with the wrong tools, that’s what happened to me.
Does it matter if the tuners are not straight? For example if i want them to tilt in an angle (just for aesthetic reasons)? I cant think of any reason this would compromise the tuning stability, since the posts are always the same. But i would like your opinion on that.
Amazing tutorial, I just installed mine for the first time…in 30 mins!
Thank you for putting this video up – so helpful ????
I bought a brand brand new premium guitar and the washers were lose on all tuners to the point of rattling, great video to explain all the parts… I guess it’s not a big deal, I will try to tighten them myself but still disappointed of this inconvenience
Coming along great Tony!
Looking forward to the finished guitar!
Thanks Tony. Well done.
Excellent…coming along nicely ????
With tuning pegs, as it is with love, longer shafts are generally better.
Helpful tip… run the tips of your screws over a block of paraffin and get some wax in the threads before installing them. They'll go in MUCH more easily. 🙂
Nice job, Tony.
Thanks Tony
Awesome! Quick and easy ????
You can also get hipshot tuners with the mounting plate if you don’t want to make any pilot holes
