You’ve loaded up a tone model in TONEX. It’s technically accurate. It sounds like the amp.
But… it’s just not inspiring.

In this video, I’ll show you how to use the built-in TONEX effects — reverb, delay, modulation — to transform even the most lifeless tone model into something that actually makes you want to play, create, and get lost in sound.

Plus, I feature the Copper Gold Ultimate + DI Collection, based on a Victory Copper Deluxe through a Celestion Gold — it’s a tone chameleon, and you’ll hear it taken to some pretty unexpected places.

  • I really wish they would implement a global EQ with at least 5 parameters just like the kemper has those. LC, HC and say 3 notch filters.. cause that would be a huge win

  • How does Tonex sound with IRs disabled and run to the fx return on an amp? And use any other effects in front of or after the Tonex pedal just using the power section of the amp?

  • Loving your Tonex captures and related videos. Keep up the great work, JS! ????????????????????

  • I think it’s kinda missing the point to slap some effects on the model to mask what you don’t like about it. In my experience just move on to other models. Many do sound lifeless. And USE THE EQ. It can do so much good!

However there is definitely some truth to putting even the slightest amount of reverb on to get the “amp in the room” feeling

  • Tonex is really starting to do what I wanted it to be able to do when I bought it two years ago. I just wanted an amp, on my desk, that I could play without having to fuss with my amp and wait for it to warm up and all that. I have a pedal board with all the boosts and overdrives and delays and everything – all still very useful and works well with the pedal – but it's great to have a few presets that I can just activate and jam. I pretty much just use one amp model (one amp, a few different gain and EQ settings captured) that covers 99% of what I want to do so it really is pretty simple. Your videos have been incredibly helpful in getting it set up to sound like an actual amp by getting the input gain, output, etc., working as it should. I really don't use the software other than the pedal editor to make new presets now. Really useable tool and I spend more time practicing and not fiddling with amps and pedals now.

  • My gosh. How do violinists or trumpeters even practice without this stuff? ????

No offense at ALL to you, Jason; you do great work and your words here are accurate. We as guitarists DO depend on things to make up for the discipline that other musicians naturally cultivate.

  • I don't have access to the software and just want to be able to make killer tones with the presets. I get lost in the knobs and don't really understand all the features. Need help.

  • I have watched many of your tutorials on the Tonex and I made a Tonex One purchase. Should be here today, I hope it works out, I have used POD and Boss Gt-1 for a while. Thank you and wish me luck. ????????????
