I Tried To Get Slipknots Guitar Tone..
Slipknot was a huge influence on me and dialing in this guitar tone was a lot of fun. Sorry this video is weird towards the end, it was copyright claimed, so I removed the claimed material. I’ll make sure this doesn’t happen next time. ????

Dude stfu… N play
First video I saw from you and good lord, kuddos on the level of production and research done. A sub earned no question!
Sounds pretty damn close to my ear.
I'll just have to air a grievance here, how can a dude make a video starting talking about metal in the 90s and not mention Pantera!!!
They put the heaviest shit to that day on number one…
I graduated in 99…got married in 99, had my daughter in 99. What a fucking year. And yes. Slipknot was in my life. Me and a friend went and got Iowa day it dropped
subbed ❤
not me looking at this 412 carvin cab i got for free!!
That sound at 19:00 sounds spot on despite sounding kinda garbage. I reckon if you put that in a mix with some post-mixing it will sound spot on.
Holy crap dude, this video is perfection…PERFECTION ???????? the hard work and dedication shows man I love it
According to metal archives, this has to be one of the heaviest hip hop crews in the game
0:21 I SEE 311 AAAHHHH 311 I LOVE 311 SO MUCH AAAHAHHHHHHH
I miss Limewire lol
taylor can you please do a how to get panteras guitar tone for cowbaoys from hell that would be sickkkkkkkkkkkkk
If you ever watched the special features on the “disasterpieces” dvd back in the day they had a soundcheck segment and the live sound was very “nasaley midrange” sound. I always loved it and have been chasing that tone my whole life…. You just nailed it and now I know it’s that carvin cab
Just discovered your channel stumbling upon this video. Great detective work, that sounds super close to me! I know it’s not a popular album but I do LOVE the tone of the guitars in Volume 3: Subliminal Verses. If you decide to follow up on this one I’d watch the hell out of it.
Not just an entertainment, it's a research
Funny enough I just bought a a carvin 4×12 carpet cab with a dsl100h for $600 total. Crazy steal, but it's such an awful combo no matter what I did, the Marshall has far too much midrange for that cab imo and it just sounded not good. Bought a 1960 lead 4×12 with the g12t-75 and it's magic, instantly that 80s thrash tone I wanted. I wanted to get rid of the carvin cab ASAP but maybe imma keep it for when I get a different head…
FRANK!?!?
YOU TOLD US YOUR NAME WAS TAYLOR! YOU LIED TO US!
Hey man, I don't know why, I think you're a really good person, I really like your videos. Hugs from Brazil. You're probably one of my favorite youtubers (I don't follow any youtuber, I have no patience)
I love this format woth the history lessons lol❤
Dude this was entertaining I needed something new thank you
This intro made me feel so nostalgic ???? absolutely loved that era!
Formats like this are far knowledgeable and not gimmicky, and we wonder why Nik Nokturnal quit. Won't go so far as to say poser but….
I think if we mix Mesa for dirt with 5150 for bite we will get that wall of sound from their first 2 albums
That Carvin sounded so close to the actual tone on the album, superb.
12:42 What song ?
Slipknot’s tone sounds thin ????????
Rammstein next?
This was actually a refreshing video about Iowa besides the same old (it's their best album because it's the heaviest). Cool deep dive in to the tone, and needing certain equipment. Just like all the stories from the guys in the 60's through 80's about "legendary equipment" sometimes it's simple as a cheap cabinet to get legendary tones. Great video dude ????????Thank you.
4:33 If I recall, that argument was because they were filming for the Disasterpieces DVD and Sid lost his bodycam while crowd surfing. Luckily a fan grabbed the camera and brought it back.
(yes I spent way too much time watching Slipknot videos when I was a teenager)
B.C Rich, yikes.
i remember reading somewhere that Mick also used a speaker that i don't think celestion makes anymore called a "hot 100" g12t 100 pretty cool speaker you might see if you can find one thanks for the deep dive 🙂
I couldn't get past the vocals/lyrics. Always appreciated how incredibly talented the band was though. I've softened to the vocal/lyrical cheese over the years, but I still laugh at the line " if you're 555 then I'm 666! "….I just can't ????????
I was born in 1999. Just thought I'd throw that out there
Ooooooh man ZOOM!!!! Talk about a throwback. I remember getting all my sounds off of my ZOOM 505II, because when your a teen on a budget in the 90s this had you covered.
I don’t mind deathcore because it’s too overwhelming but I listened to the dying song and it changed my mind a bit
???? ????
Bro forgot about pantera during the 90s
still waiting for someone to tell me how magnets work. shits a miracle
Slipknot álbum are better than iowa…but people are not ready for that. Intro to 'sic' was when the world knew the legend joey…
Oh, no, he cleaned off the patina.
Yup late 90’s. I saw that little frame of Orgy. I was in 7th grade and that’s what got a friend I into guitar! I printed off every tab I could fine from that Candyass album, between my AOL messaging, and fruity loops techno time!
Man so glad you go into detail i look at the tone finding in a different more helpful way instead of why cant i do it lol specially slipknot respect the tone
Ruben shared his set and it was nice for 2 drummers to get along. I brought my guitar one day. Ned and John (was in a band w skid rows drummer)were there. They said use your tuner. I replied . Clapton went up and tuned hendrix guitar after it went outa tune. Ned replied you can hear how outa tune Hendrix is. I still tune by ear
I've come back to this video a handful of times since uploading, and your tone at 17:24 to 18:13 is absolutely dope. So is 20:44 to 20:54.
Care to make some Headrush Flex Prime profiles with and without the cab and upload them for sale like you did for your Deliverance pack?
Mudvayne was always better.
Try doing it for Rammstein, im trying to get RZKs tone but my equipment is not so expensive so it would be interesting to see you do that with your stuff m/
Not sure what you are listening to in the 90s but I remember
BLOODBATH
SLAYER
TESTAMENT
DEATH
SPEULTURA
ARCH ENEMY
CANNIBAL CORPSE
why even put the metal grating back on it?
