The Boss has more gain I'll go with that one EVH sounds a little weaker on distortion older one sounds better
MXR has the Recto Wall of Sound Scooped out thing going on and I’ve always Had a problem with 5150s without Compensating EQ, Overdrive Boost, even compression. My dream sound was My old Triple Rectifer (duals are just as fine) 2nd channel Orange with Tube screamer. So how about a demo of the Knuckle Vs 5150, Make it great and add the Anti, Seth Morrison, Hynotone Ares, and Fireball IR? I don’t get the fuss about the Revv G3. I think the R4 from DemonFX destroys it, Mosky G3 blue and dark flame all sound the same. It’s funny I sold My AMT R2 after I bought the Joyo Uzi. Okay I’m rambling now, but have sold all My pedals and use a Blackbox, Sonicake Pocket Master, old Korg P4 and Mooer Radar. Waiting on the Valeton Gp5 and HB dna core or Mooer 150 pro but keep remembering GElabs is for free, but I want to Load MNRS files.No, they are not better, just close enough and cheap AF. Raining Underdogs? Dracarys, Midvalleyfx peaks, AMT RS, Theta Pre, CKK destruction Drive, Andy @ plus, Friedman pick one, Suhr riot, I can keep going. But I like to have 3 flavors of Overdrive, 3 preamp in box style pedals, and the goods to compliment. Think Klon SD1 TS and Focused, mid heavy (British, and all out Recto warfare. (American) no blackstar not isf. I have so Much GAS, I should probably go to the bathroom but all that to say, the MXR is beloved By EVERYONE!, and this guy cut and killed it! No lie unless You are lying. I don’t think You are Sir. I’ve seen another shootout Like this VS the Walrus Eras and same type thing happened. Another honorable Mention. Enough I sh!t myself
The metal zone sounded better in just this setup. I have really hard to believe the Boss could be better. I have owned a 5150 combo before..

I say the Metal Zone got that one, even set "flat" at noon, lol… The treble and high end was much better…
It's so tough to tell from these videos..
But I have valve fender amp and I have that pedal. And I think it's the best of the drive/distortion . Super legit. The evh name thing might sell this thing but it delivers.
Metal Zone sounds much more focused. People need to get over the hate for the MZ. ????
It is always difficult for myself anyways to hear substantial differences in tone when people switch from one to another on video recordings. But in this particular video they sounded very similar only the EVH sounded darker, in which case i would just boost my presence or eq controlsl up a notch or 2

Interesting. The EVH sounds so dark and lacking presence compared to the Metal Zone. What are your impressions of them in the space?
