  • I love this dude so much and if I was looking for immediate instruction, he is it. You know the name of my pinky until I strengthen it.

  • Is it normal for your pinky to be sore at the middle knuckle/joint if it’s really weak and you’ve practiced a lot with it?

  • Another good one: place index on 12th fret, pinky trills on 15th till it can't anymore, rest 30 seconds 2nd finger on 13th fret, repeat exercise, ring finger on 13th repeat. It gets pretty hard

  • I use my pinky in my guitar playing because I’m a fan of James Hetfield and Tony Iommi.

  • I'm a beginnerish intermediate, like I know cowboy chords and the power chord shape. Anyway when learning Nirvana's Lithium I use my pinkie. Even if in some songs where Cobain bridges three strings with his ring finger, I use my pinkie and birdge two, so I use three out of my four fingers

  • I need a stronger ring finger when playing….I notice when covering metal solos I cant play nearly as fast and smooth with every note as the actual recording does, and I really think it has to do with incorporating all fingers and I notice I mainly play with pointer and pinky when there's a stretch instead of using pointer, middle, ring pinky I just use pointer and ring most the time and when playing power chords I just use the barring method with my pinky instead of 3 fingers individually on each string which I see famous guitarist doing, just feels harder to do that and takes more time to make sure my fingers are on each spot perfectly.

  • For power chords, I use both my pinky and ring finger to add a little extra oomph to the sound and to help keep my pinky warmed up.

Like if I'm playing a G power chord, index finger E string 3rd fret, ring finger A string 5th fret and pinky D string 5th fret.

  • Anyone have any tips… I was Born with both of my pinky fingers extremely crooked and it’s really hard for me to use my pinky at all and it’ll go extremely more crooked when I place it on a string.

  • I had no idea why my pinky was screwing me up so bad but it turns out I just realized I have Clinodactyly cause it’s only noticeable when I bend my left pinky. So like guitars going great so far.

  • NEVER use pinky in place of other finger
Use 1 finger per fret , 4 fingers 4 frets

  • Slash isn't big on using his pinky, I don't think. Most people would agree he is a world class guitar player. I also believe he has a life.Maybe early on in his playing career he didn't have much of a life outside of playing guitar. But he's living it up now, had a wife, I'm not sure now, has 2 kids. Probably loving life.

  • Or just play flute and have a teacher that will tell u to constantly tap ur finger on a table (or literally any other surface).

  • I play a power chord like Cobain, where I play the regular power chord shape but add the note that is an octave above the root
