  • Absolute nonsense! I own both and the build quality and components used are miles apart. The Epi has a cheap bridge with skinny posts, the pickguard has an edge you could slice fruit on and the nut looks brand new compared to the aged binding. The jury is still out the the “aged satin finish”, I’m just building myself up to buffing it to a gloss! Having said all that, the Epi is still an excellent guitar for the money and with a few tweaks it can keep up with the Gibson ????

  • Great comparison video!! My bank-account feels pretty different too when choosing Epi vs Gibby.
I had a proper Les Paul but traded it in and have an Epiphone Les Paul custom with pickup upgrade for LP sounds.
The advantage the Epi has over the Gibson was the angle of the headstock (which detunes my g-string less).
Also the fear of headstock breakage with big G when hauling it over to live gigs was a little too much stress…

  • I felt the same between an Epiphone Les Paul and my new Les Paul Studio Session. The Epiphone sounded quite good but the feeling with the Gibson is completely different.
