The Best Value Amp Modeler On The Planet
In today’s video, Paul from The Studio Rats is checking out the Fractal Audio FM3.
The FM3 is the lowest-priced and powered unit in the Fractal line, but if you’re looking for a high-quality modeler, don’t dismiss this, as the Fractal FM3 is a beast, and in my opinion, the best value for money modeler you can buy.

jesus christ that clean chorus tone dropped my jaw to the FLOOR
So impressed with the FM3 reviews. Hoping this will be the final modeller ????
Also, have the presets been tested on the original FM3? Haven't decided to upgrade to a MKii yet since the original FM3 does everything I need
what is the recording process for capturing audio and video for your videos?
If the Fractal FM3 is so great why dont you make up your own patches and go from there!!!!! Like I have to buy something else to make this sound great!!!! Its like these guys showcasing amps then sticking 5 petals on it!!!! I want to know about the AMP!!!!!!
Oh lord, I’m so ignorant. What does a pack mean? Do I have to buy that and like download it into that?
May I ask What pick ups are on your fabulous Strat?
Playing my first gig with this FM3 this weekend. Two gigs in two days with it. So, I'm hoping it's going to play nicely and fit in the band well. It sounds absolutely stellar. I don't think the amps sounds as good as my BluGuitar Amp 1. But, there are some advantages with the FM3 I'm trying to take advantage of. Things like the amazing effects, the stereo XLR out, and the variety of tones and amps in one small footprint. These are what I don't have with the BluGuitar Amp 1. I'm sacrificing amp tone a bit. But, maybe that's all in my head. We'll see.
ok my e530 stellar preamp with any Reverb stomps or just my Zoom G3 have better tones
…keep breakin the bank folks 4 nothing new under the sun ????
Giocattolo troppo costoso fatto per invasati…
Kemper MK2 new Profiling technology releasing today.
Where can I buy presets?!?! ????
What were you playing through for this video? Was it just straight into a daw? Sounds killer. Also would you mind sharing your global and I/o settings with me somehow? I recently got my fm3 and think something is set up incorrectly
Sound's great…the tube is definitely superseded
Paul, awesome tones and playing.
I would love it if you guys released an 80s style pack. I'm really into the dann huff clean sound and would love to hear your take on that with the FM3.
Cheers
People should work with what makes them happy or comfortable, whatever it may be
I'll just say that I've had an FM3 for about 6 months, and recently added the FC12 foot controller.
My GAS is gone forever. This is it for me. Also, I personally have not found working with Fractal as daunting as some people make it out to be.
Hi friend, I have already paid 3 times for your package, but each time the bank notified me that the seller canceled the payment and returned the money to my account.
I wrote to you by email but no one answered me. I really like your package and I don't know how to get it.
Fractal is ‘creme-de-la-creme’ !!!
????????
Hi Paul, great tones!… Are any IR cabs from TSR included in the packs ?
Is there any bass options
Do you think these amp models are better than in the Strymon iridium?
I've had the FM3 for a couple of years now. But being a guitar player, always in search for better tone, I've built myself a pedalboard with some very expensive stuff on it, including the revival drive hot rod. It's great, and I've been enjoying it a great deal… Was thinking I could sell the fm3.
But… When I start thinking, the sound in the fm3 is not worse, and all the possible tones I can get out of it? And with all the amps, cabs and fx it has, everything in just one box? If I use pure logic, I should just keep the fm3 and be satisfied. Well, we'll see…
For anyone on the fence about this; I sold Paul a big amp a few years ago that he wanted to capture, when I’d just bought an axe fx iii. We agreed a reduction in the price in exchange for Paul helping me set up and resolve some issues I was having with my home studio. Paul was a complete gentleman, solved all my issues, and gave me his then axe fx patch and helped me tailor it to my particular tastes.
I reckon I’ve spent more than 80% of my time playing those patches, they are absolutely brilliant!
Looking forward to the axe fx iii versions Paul!
absolutely amazing tones!
Paul – I ended up getting the FM9Turbo as I needed the extra grunt. Running it in a wet/dry/wet configuration, with a real valve amp head/Zilla Super Fat Boy vertical cab for the dry and a pair of Elis.8s for the stereo effects. It sounds fantastic and far cheaper than a rack full of equipment.
Paul – you are really producing amazing demos!! Always fantastic playing and great "demo concept" – I would be so interested to see your take on the Fender Tone Master Pro as I have seen so many positive reviews, but I personally fail to produce a decent sound from it…; the Fractal in all ways does seem really to be the way to go in the end…
Great video. These units look and sound so cool. I have a QC, which I love, but I have always wanted to try the Fractal stuff and the FM3 looks to be a good balance.. maybe I have the bucks some day to get one.
I want Fractal to make something the same size as the PodGo, with that many buttons to step on, built in Expression, but with a large touchscreen and all the Fractal tones and DSP power we've come to know.
????
Fractal Axe FX3, FM9 and FM3 are the best Modeler of the world ! Nothing is better.
Plex Delay appreciation society ❤
I bought an FM3 and the USB socket came loose in less than 2 weeks so I sent it back. Further research found that other people were having the same issue.
I’ve been a good little church boy and not bought any new gear for at least two hours – so just treated to myself to an FM3. Wanted one for a couple of years and finally bit the bullet. Cheers, Paul.
The Marshall Lead tone at 2:12 is just so Fractal sounding.
Quite a turn off.
Great unit, but best value? No way dude. The Valeton GP200 is 300 quid and with expression pedal. The tones are awesome and the new update allows neural amp and pedal capture compatibility. Now that's value.
Love the FM3 .. I use mine in the studio all the time and started to use it live. I find my presets a little thin and fizzy live on medium / higher gain (rock not metal) .. is your preset pack quite thick that sound good live?
Sounds great
????
Sounds absolutely amazing, l would say that I’m still using a fractal ultra ????????????
Sounds amazing. Can this unit be run into a clean amp’s front end?
Round and round we go lol!
Of course it’s a sponsored video when the whole purpose is to sell your own preset packs for it…
I had been looking at Fractal for a few years but I've been running a Helix Floor for the past 3. 2 or 3 months ago I found a great deal on Reverb for an FM3/FC6 combo and I pulled the trigger. Completely different feel than the Helix….it's a feeling of realism. Instead of feeling like you're playing a recording it feels amp-like. I still use the Helix on my concert dates and use the Fractal for smaller gigs but once I get the presets I want that will change. Oh, did I tell you that the factory presets in the FM3 put the Helix to shame?
