  • Very interesting Paul, and similar FX to my board. Several gain stages are a must, plus delay, chorus, rotary and univibe – I'm using different pedals – e.g. I use another chorus for rotary effect – but the end result is similar, to my cloth ears … add a wah and you're there!!
I've given up on valve amps, just too unreliable for live use. I use an Award-Session Sessionmaster JD10 into the FX return of a Laney LX65R, bypassing the tone stack – it's one of the least expensive combos out there, but it's light, reliable and the power stage and HH speaker bring out the best in the JD10. If you haven't tried the JD10, you could be surprised. I think the designer, Stewart Ward, is a genius.
Since my drummer pal recommended you I've been hooked on your style, tone and the way you approach covers … we're forming a Southern Rock band and incorporating a couple of your originals into our set It's been a long time comin', this will probably be my last band project.
Love your playing, you are an inspiration, thank you for refocusing my musical ambition.

  • Nice video, Paul! I really appreciate your explanation of the tones you can create through the combination of the amp, pedals and pickups. I'm a drummer and love playing with a good sounding guitar! But my question is concerning your vocal sound. It is almost like you're applying a flanger or something. Could you please tell me what it is that I'm hearing? It sounds awesome!

  • Thank you very much Paul for sharing your set ups. I watched Steve’s set up video last week . The way you two play off each other is pure chemistry, and your videos are as I’ve said some of the most played on my work playlist , and get lots of questions & compliments . C-ya ????????

  • Thanks for taking the time to do this video – It was cool watching you go through your setup. I run my harp through a 1965 black-face Fender Vibro Champ, then mic it and run it thru the mains. I'm a big fan. Love what you guys do.!

  • Tone is everything for sure, it's like the holy grail finding the sweet spots and this was a sweet treat. Best till last for me, the Shaky Jimi plus the custom, just right somehow. Machine Gun next up ? Wondering if you ever came across Traynor Amps in Canada ? Cheers and thanks Paul.
