  • If you want a more sparkling clean channel and some of that tube shimmer, you want that orange voice of the world speaker than the CR60 comes with. It’s got the fizz.

  • Both amps sound pretty poor through my Grado headphones. The Crush is too muffled while the Rockerverb is too bright, at the opposite ends of the spectrum. Speaker makes a huge difference too, and I disagree with the fact that most combo users play it stock. Swapping the speaker for a better one it is imho one of the best and easiest mods out there. And yes, for the price paid on a Rockerverb, one gets superior speakers, for sure. To be relevant, you should have used the same speakers. Either the Crush or Rockerberb ones. One more interesting thing to add which is mentioned here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=niW32OS0iY0&t=338s by Ade Emsley who is the designer of Orange Amps, regarding the clean channel is that it does not have a bright cap. So it will be darker unless you flat out the volume knob, but then your ears might hurt… No bright cap can be more appealing for some players, who may prefer the clean channel of the Super Crush. As Ade mentioned, you might want to turn the treble up on the clean channel, or solder a bright cap from the adjacent lugs of your volume knob 🙂

  • I think it’s the grille cloth that makes it sound muffled. It’s too thick, shaves off too much top end and makes it sound boxy.

Conversely, it’s the same reason you see a lot of bands using Orange speaker cabs with Marshall heads.

  • Orange worked so hard to get that Clean channel together for the Super Crush 100, after the Crush Pro 120 Clean had the flat sound, and low volume issues. The funny thing is, I prefer the Drive channel of the SC100 to the Rockerverb.

  • That amp sounded like it maybe had a problem. I wouldn't normally characterize solid state as being so rolled off. Maybe it's the JFET design that sounds like that? Anyway, pass for me.

  • The muffled sound could be due to the open back/closed back cab simulator button. Did you try both modes?

  • Nice review, looking to get a super crush 60 or 100 to play along side of my hot rod deluxe..

  • I have the SC100 Head on the way but someday I hope to get the AD30 which I think has the best classic tones IMO.

  • I disagree. I have the head and it sounds amazing clean or dirty with my 2×12 Marshall Cab. I also use the Marshall dsl40. The Super Crush cleans sound sweet and super clean without the piercing that I get from the Marshall

  • Cool, you guys are honest when you don't like something. Don't see a lot of that. I don't think they're remarkably heavy or light, and I just went from an AC30 (76lb.) to a Quilter Cub 50 (21lb.). I didn't have a problem getting high end out of the clean side. I did wonder why it wasn't real loud when turned up to about 6. I'd have liked to have heard more mid-heavy rock power chords and leads. Good job, folks.

  • good video, but something is wrong with the micing or processing they both sound off, and I am using good headphones

  • You must of had a faulty Orange Super Crush, it actually sounds way closer to a Rockerverb than this video portrayed.

  • Hello ???? you I remember you from guitar center in Atlanta great seeing you doing a great job awesome ????

  • Have you tried rolling the volume off on the guitar to see how it cleans up that way?

  • I think it would be cool to see your opinions on amps like the catalyst or the katana as well. Maybe even headphone amps!

  • I got the Super Crush 100 head and it sounds so much better than this going through my cabs. Not muffled at all.
I have a Genz Benz 1×12 with a Texas Heat and an open back handmade cab with a Black Shadow 90. I have to add that the clean channel sounds best with the bass and treble full up or close to it. Gets a bit closer to that Fender scooped thing.

  • I think this is the first useful review of this amp that I've seen. The Tonemaster comparison is on point too, as that's the other amp I'm actively weighing this one against.

  • Oh I was just thinking that maybe if both amps used a different cabinet in the room than the ones they are hosted with to make the comparison more fair, but I get this is suppose to promote the super crush as a combo.
The speakers made the amps sound night and day

  • I just watched your vid again and read my comments. My apologies for being a little harsh. I must have taken "angry pills" that day. Good luck in the future with your channel. ✌️????????

  • i'm really curious if the actual speaker is the problem. i would try plugging the super crush into the rockerverb speakers to see if it's better because a speaker swap isn't too hard if it makes it a much better amp
