Why EVERY bass player should learn THIS bass line! ???? (see description) #StevieWonder #MasterBlaster
This break in the iconic ‘Master Blaster’ by Stevie Wonder isn’t just a killer groove — it’s packed with skills that will make you a better bassist. ????
Here’s why I think it’s so beneficial to get locked down…
1️⃣ No more flying fingers. The speed of the line itself almost demands a super clean fretting hand approach. If your pinky isn’t held close to the strings, you’ll be in for a rough ride.
2️⃣ Master your position shifts. Unless you’re rocking a 6-string, you’ll have to shift positions at some point in the line. This line forces you to do it smoothly, helping you navigate the fretboard with confidence.
3️⃣ Plucking hand precision! Ascending & descending lines make this the perfect workout for your right hand. Take a small section, 1-2 bars, loop it & you’ve got an instant exercise! ????

Getting this whole song down, Master Blaster, will make you a better bass player in general.

I stopped at Seven Nation Army. Shame on me.
I mean, yeah, buuuuuut is just forefinger and pinky.
Right..?
Stevie got the idea for this song from 4 Ethiopians (Dallol Band) who ended up jamming with him in the studio back in the 70’s. He asked them to play something from their culture or country and they did a song called “Dera” by Mehamoud Ahmed and the rest is history. He loved that song instantly and did his own twist on it which later became “Master blaster” as everyone knows it. The 4 Ethiopians got hooked up with Ziggy Marley later in the 80’s and worked with him for few years. They won platinum for selling over million copies while with Ziggy. Legend has it, Stevie helped make this connection between the four Ethiopians and Marley family.
