I believe you'll find that thr back isnt one piece. It is, however bookmatched with a very small center piece. At least that is the case with the parlor model Laurette. I will say the quality of mine is levels above my Martin D18. It's the first guitar I've ever owned that makes me dread that enevitable first nick.
A Masterpiece ❤
I tried an LD70e today in GC. It was the best sounding guitar I played under $3,000. However, the saddle height was so low and the strings were high. It will need a neck reset in just a few years. It was sad because that’s the guitar I went in to try, specifically, and that was the only one in stock. I also am concerned about quality control if that can slip through the cracks on into the shelves.
The Alvarez LD70e is over $2,000 CAD
I'll take the LT60 or 66
Man, I am feeling that shirt! Nice playing too!
Just pre ordered a lLH Laureate Daybreak parlour. 6-9 months to arrive, Reackon I have made a good choice and definitely worth the wait . Great vid ????
If anyone has had the opportunity to compare this model against the Yamaha Fgx5, I would appreciate your input.
Wow, does that guitar sound amazing!!!
Looks like very thick poly lacquer on it.
John, I found a used 2020 Alvarez Artist series folk size AFH600CE in excelent shape for under $300. The model is a herringbone finish made exclusively for the Music and Arts franchise. This guitar blows me away! How does Alvarez do it at these low price point Artist guitars? I put D'Addario custom light XS strings on it, and it blew my mind.
I have my LF for about a week now, beautiful solid mahogany back and sides. I've been an Alvarez guy since my first Regent series over 30yrs ago. i call this a poor man's Yairi
Just bought an Alvarez RD 20SL left hand Dreadnaught for, $100.00. Wow! Love it Its loud and has great tone.
Thank you Brother!
Does it come in a 12 fret ?
Phewwwww. That guitar melted my eardrums when you started to play it. wow.
Love when John plays and he gets in 'The Zone' and he has that trance-like look in his eyes.
CHINA WHAT
What gauge strings does it come with? I’m a big fan of the 1982 Yamaha FG 350D. I actually own 3 of them, they’re so amazing. I use D’Addario custom light .011. – .052, which I find the sweet spot.
I've listened to a ton of your videos, and I can tell that guitar can blow the roof off of the joint. Grand piano sound for sure!
I"m glad you mentioned the strap button on the heel. I hate that, but boy is that an awesome guitar, I could overlook that strap button!
Young Love? I didn't want that to stop!
I desperately wish they'd release a 12 fret DREADNOUGHT Laureate ????
Thank you, John! I’m 78. I own a couple of Martins, a couple of Taylors and a vintage Ovation. They’re all fine guitars. But I decided that I needed a 12-fret parlor guitar since my fingers and wrists aren’t as agile as they once were. Based on your reviews, I bought an all Honduran mahogany Alvarez-Yairi parlor. It has exceeded my expectations in every way. It’s absolutely beautiful, it has a wonderful voice and it’s very easy to play—so I’m playing more and learning lots of new music.
Great show John, yes I've owned a few Yairis over the years, and they were SO good, now they are with Alveraz ???????? interesting, sincere thanks ????????
That Alvarez has soul. For about $1,400 with an LR Bags pickup, this is on my shortlist for an under $2K dreadnought. No, you still won't sound like John – who does?- but you will sound better.
Still waiting for someone to do a video shootout between Alvarez, Yamaha, Eastman. Blueridge, and Recording King rosewood dreads in that $1,000 to
$ 1,500 sweet spot.
From this price point seems you need to jump up to about $4K + to get the next level of acoustic. If you shell out $2-3K you spent too much or too little. Unless you got a great used deal.
it's a very fine instrument; am trying to decide if I should buy the OM size but am 1500 kms from the nearest store so between a rock and a hard place . Am I being too conservative…..?
Cheers, Ross
J.P. – Now you have me wondering out loud about the Laureat Parlor model. Thank you, sir. Classy review and sublime playing. You have the best job on Earth.
I think you reviewed the MD70 as well?? How does this new Laureate 70 stack up to that review? Much of a difference in tone? I think the Laureate is different bracing..
Is there a Canadian dealer?
Very nice indeed. Do you ever teach this tune?
Great guitar.
Remark: The whole guitar is tuned HALF-TONE down….. does this make any difference??????
I got a used 12 string Alvarez for 60$ and it’s got low action and lots of mojo! I am sold
The thing that worries me about Alvarez is how you actually make a guitar of that quality at that price. I have an mf60om and love it, but it feels that to be able to produce guitars of this quality at this price somebody somewhere isn’t getting paid. Here in the uk we’ve had issues around unpaid internships and I’ve heard that this is how Alvarez works. Surely if you’re producing work of that quality you should be getting paid for it. I might be wrong but it worries me somewhat.
J.P. I put a 10 dollar tone bar on my DY61.. I am amazed at the sound change . for 10 dollars you might want to try one . Im putting one on my D-18 tomorrow. Best upgrade ive ever found for the money im just a player. Will Alvarez put fret markers on the fret board if you want them?? I really want to try the JP model..
