Ibanez TS9B and Boss HM-2 gives tremendous result. And for a more subtle sound I would recommend TS9 and Sansamp. 😀
An overdrive into a distortion is the best imo
I like the Rat on its own. Never been big on tube screamers… they are muffled sounding
Rat into TS9 is great if you’re using it to drive something ahead. If you do TS9 into Rat into something overdriven it might get noisy
Wow, putting the Tube Screamer after the RAT really took the wind out of its (RAT) sails.
Two completely different pedals. Tube Screamer sounds best as a boost to other distortions/your amplifier distortion, RAT is an all in one distortion with loads of gain on tap.
It all sounds like crap. Just a swarm of bumblebees
Now I'm starting to ask my self, Why I do not own a rat pedal yet? It sounds so much Punk Rock!

Cool video. I prefer the Timmy paired with the Rat over the TS9 and for sequence I prefer OD then Distortion ???? rock on!
I don't have a rat but do have a ts9. I use that thing in front of my distortion pedals like my evh 5150 and it fattens up the tone really well.

80’s Mxr dis + into an early 90’s the Rat has been my go-to since I bought it new.

Most guys I've seen running pedals into amps usually have the drive set low, the level set high, and the tone adjusted to taste. Usually the amp just needs to be juiced a little bit to get it into the right amount of saturation that still has clarity and good tone.
The Rat being set at noon and yet is that distorted is pretty impressive saturation. That said, it is harsh and liking it is a matter of taste.

Not sure why people like the Rat pedal. It sucks tour tone of everything good. There’s no high end shimmer. No harmonic undertones. That’s what makes a good mid-high gain tone great. At least to my ears and an entire decade of artists.

In my opinion, RAT alone is the best. TS9 into RAT is excellent, too. Old 80's RATs are a bit better.
SD-1 into Rat works to me.
I'm really too old for such "comparisons"! 40 years ago I put together an Ibanez clone, my bandmate replicated a ProcoRat. Guess how much the schematics differed and what was the difference in sound? That's right, minimal.
TS9 into a RAT…. that combination works for me.

I prefer something like a bd2 or butler tube driver into the rat. Sometimes a klon type is great with the gain rolled completely off. Especially with the rat already being fairly mid focused compared to something like a muff. The mids on the ts9 are a bit much for me. Every time I’ve attempted to use one in my rig it sounds nasally. I imagine it’d be amazing into a really scooped amp, though. Which I don’t own.
Literally confirms all you need is a Rat anda tube AMP.
Any Ibanez ts series is trash.
