What strings are on these?
Now I’m not listening through studio quality gear, but nor am I listening on my phone. I have a Sony STRDN1050 into Tannoy Revolution DC4T speakers so it’s not rubbish.
If I’m not looking at the screen I genuinely can’t tell which guitar is being played.
I’ve no doubt the Martin is a fine instrument and therefore the same must be said for the Eastman. Respect to both.
Gotta say, Iv played enough standard Martin's and Eastmans, I still bought an E20d tc. But that was about 7 months ago now, before martin finally started making standards the way they ought to. Go figure that import guitars finally forced martin to use more traditional specs again. Don't get me wrong, if you have to have the Martin sound, only Martin will do. But there is nothing wrong at all, if you're new to all this madness, shopping for your first big boy dreadbox, to buy an import guitar. Eastman is entirely hand made, and /very/ consistent. And not all like-model guitars from a single brand are gonna sound the exact same anyhow ????♂️ Don't let brand snobs talk you out of your entire wallet!!
I have a D28 and an HD28 I played this Eastman a few months ago and it was fine but it was heavier and it’s made in China. I can’t get past that. Just buy a used Martin for that price.
These Martin guys won't even give you an inch, no thanks.
Hands down the HD-28 wins by a mile. I own a 1973 D-18, a 2002 D-41 and a 2004 HD-28 I wouldn't sell any of them for all the money in China. And they have just gone up in value unlike any Chinese copy.
My problem with Eastman is I'm not giving $2300 for a china made guitar it's not a safe investment take that money buy a new d18 or you can buy a lightly used d28 jmo you would be glad you did.
I’d like to see a comparison between two of the exact same models. I don’t think people realize every guitar is different no matter what. Online buying has made people think a particular model will always sound the same. Martin is an excellent example of how varied a guitar can be.
I can’t wait for the forward shifted TAS Eastman E20DTC’s to come in. I think the forward shifting will help the Eastman sound a bit less modern and more like the Martin
No comparison, the Martin HD28 wins…Big difference in sound is from top sound board X bracing position and scalloping. The Eastman is typical sounding..bright, thin as compared to the Martin HD28.
Nice guitars! Are you gonna get any of the Billy Strings signature Martins in?
