Y'all need to make up for the total lack of Carlos Dengler by doing a video of his best lines from those first 4 Interpol albums. Also, didn't Commerford tune his bass a fourth down? BEAD?
????????????????????????????????
the horse – A wilhelm scream, I know it's not mainstream but damn that bassline is monstrous
80s Rock?? VAN HALEN COME ON
Awesome tracks! So good. Motivates me to pick up the bass after depressingly listening to current music.
I don't get the 'bass face'. To me, it looks like you just smelled the dog crap that you just stepped in! ????????????
Crazy theres no mention of the new by interpol also evil as a mention
It’s a 1980’s remaster…. But Rob trujillo’s takes on the blizzard of ozz album. Specifically “I don’t know” and “Mr.Crowley”
You both missed out on Three Days Grace and all the other double OG rock bands of that era, for certain.
SHAKE YOUR BLOOD by PROBOT
I feel like you gotta get something by the strokes. Cause they just were 2000s rock, in my opinion. Like, the lines are usually super simple but they just work man.
I’m So Sick by Flyleaf is definitely one that y’all missed.
If you ever do another one of these, you’ve got to check out some Mars Volta bass lines! Flea plays on a good chunk of the first album, but the rest of the albums have Juan Alderete, who absolutely shreds! Here’s 4 of my favorites from their first 3 albums:
The Widow
Cygnus… Vismund Cygnus
Take the Veil Cerpin Taxt
Day of the Baphonets
You guys were joking about the cricket sounds for the 80s, right!?
You missed Vertigo- U2 (2004). One of Adam Claytons' best lines IMO.
Wolfmother – Dimension should be included in the list too❤
Victor Damiani (and maybe Gabe Nelson as well) actually like to play a short scale bass 😀
KASABIAN: SUN RISE LIGHT FLIES https://youtu.be/Am-zNrQV6Zw?si=vzeBJpjny03xlA9Z
THE. HIVES. ????????
NIN-Only! Nice riff from 2006
The rick actually soudns way better for all these
Im might actually cop a rick now lmao
No Kasabian!?? ????
2000 was great year of music. So much different styles of great music! Rock, trance, house, disco, ambient, groove, rnb
I love how much fun you guys seem to be having in these videos
WoLstenholme
I hate everything about Rock in the 6O’s.
I love how fun you guys make these videos.
This era also saw a huge resurgence of post punk in the form of dance punk and basically all of them had fantastic basslines, most notable being the iconic duo Death From Above 1979.
Rage, Hives, Cake… some of my absolute favs! ????
I need an explanation of the bass line for Feel Good Inc. Who recorded it though? Cause Paul Simonon was mainly doing it with them Live, but who came up with it or put it down in the studio?! And dont give me this bit about a "fictional character" ????
How could y'all forget about P.O.D.? They were HUGE in the 2000's, it's all good. Maybe a video in the near future? Also, what about Sevendust, huh? They have some very heavy and catchy bass lines. And Foo Fighters, besides All My Life and Times Like These, One by One is a 2000's staple. The song Low is pretty gnarly.
Great video!
Two basslines that are go to for me when testing a new bass:
Perry Farrell's Satellite Party – Wish Upon A Dog Star (Peter Hook)
Mars Volta – Cygnus (riff at 8:45, Juan Alderete)
when you played the Hives it did bring me back to the year of 1998 – 2002, Micke Åström the guitarist in the band worked in the same School i went to for 4 years,
one summer we went and meat up with the rest of the band (Sadly the bassist was not there) and we went to see Grease on a drive in cinema in an old Plymot 58
good times back then 😀
@IanMartinAllison – what model Jazz bass is the sunburst w/black pickguard? It's similar to mine.
Hi from Australia, by the way.
Love, LOVE your work; keep up the great tutorials. ????????????
Chevelle Mia is a 1999 release date, but it’s worth mentioning…
I normally don’t like to pick bass, but I’m gonna pick bass only for about a month make up stuff.
Colin Greenwood is the bassist of Radiohead…! 11:13
