Jazz Fusion Hack #56 | Pentatonic Sweeping over a 251 in C Major

In keeping with using the Pentatonic Scale in an unusual fashion, today we have Pentatonic Sweeping over a 251.

The two main concepts to study in this one are 1) Pentatonic Sweeing and 2) Pentatonic Substitutions

Pentatonic Sweeping is just applying Sweep Picking to your standard Minor Pentatonic scale. This can be done through different fingering and shapes.

Pentatonic Substitutions are just using the Pentatonic Scale in a different position than usual. Over today’s 251 I am applying Am penta over Dm7, Bb penta over G7 and Em penta over Cmaj7. These function in a killer sounding way that kind of reimagines the sound of the Pentatonic Scale.
