“Stevie Wonder called and said, “I need you to come back in – I’ve got this bad song.”

In today’s video, you’ll learn how to play one of Stevie’s most iconic songs. Plus, you’ll get all of the tab and notation so you can understand every note.

Search for a video in which Stevie himself plays the drums. The hi-hat is straight, no swing.
Notably, I play the 3rd fret of the G string rather than the 8th fret of the D string on this line.
I do the same thing with Stir it Up by Bob Marley, where I play the highest note on the G string so it’s entirely on 4 frets and easy to finger. However, when it comes to I Wish, there will always be that reach down to the second fret.
What is Scott’s bass in this? It’s GORGEOUS
Scott and Ian I think I love the way you guys do that song more than the original .guys . I like that bounce you guys give it . That pick on that song is awesome and in your face and clean . Great job guys .
Why the glove?
Thanks. This tutorial is so fun to watch (my first from your channel!) and really motivates and inspires to learn the song right.
Hi guys, wonderful as always. Question, what is that pedal combo I see at 14:19? Thanks!
Definitely a gospel shout in a funk context
Did a masterclass with Nate and he smiled really big when I did the squiggle. He said, "Who taught you that?!" I replied "You did!" lol. Really nice guy.
Makes me so happy to see how much you both just love your instruments ????????????
Thank you for the great video!
Stevie is a genius ????
you guys are awesome. check out the cover Martin Miller band did for I wish – Around the 3 minute mark the bass and the guitar do one of the best jams I've heard. When I played it for my band's guitarist, his response was: This is above my pay grade.
Behs…
I play it rightish for the band I play it in.
Thanks guys … very useful .. I noticed that I’m playing wrong accents for years… little details that makes the difference … ❤ merry Christmas from Paris. Xav
Awesome guys, awesome. Thanks a lot!
You both play awesome and the start of this video was exceptional, but both talk like idiots, Watts is playing simple, what you hear in back ground like an octaver is just a guitar doubling the bass all the way, that's it… There's like 3 or 4 guitars in the start of the song
Stevie said that this song was inspired by Earth wind & fire's " Shining Star ".
As much as I like this song , for some of us when we heard the baseline, we heard Courageous Cat and Minute Mouse????
Are you sure is the bass line correct? I have listened to the original bass line and it is completely different.. All the song is basically the E on the one with variation. Which version are you refering to? Anyway great bass line dude!
How is called Scot approach technique?
tab download is a dead link. ( that's ok. i used a fake email address. )
Great breakdown of the bass line….especially the B section….Thanks guys.
Love the video, and this channel. But, has anyone else noticed that the second half of each verse (or verse 2 & 4 depending on how you break it down), as well as the chorus, only plays the first two measures of the main bass line? Or are my ears playing tricks on me?
