I mean to be fair, there's like a thousands of guitarists on YouTube and Instagram and TikTok that could do that in their sleep, and play like gods. Times change, no biggie. have you seen the videos of kids at the xgames? No one would dare saw tony hawk is better than them bc they learned from him and expanded it to the stratosphere.

He is clearly an exceptional guitar player. He could easily be a Hendrix, or EVH, Its just his voice and the way he sings that doesn't mesh with blues at all. So yeah, overrated. Just my opinion.
Nobody that plays music or knows anything about music says he's over rated… he's objectively a great guitar player.
He is a great technical player no doubt, but the problem I have is when he plays the blues, he over plays and doesn't have the enough soul. He is a much better pop player and what he does with The Dead is great.

it's all about perspective, when you compare most famous guitarists with Justin Johnson they all seems overrated
still remember some random people in youtube comment section calling him "trash"
People who claim these top guitarists are overated are those whose knowledge of the instrument is extremely limited. They think too highly of themselves. A little bit of humility & willingness to learn would greatly improve their own playing. They would then appreciate just how good these guys are.

I ,am not saying that we go around bragging,but I noticed that *sometimes*some of us even myself do not take constructive criticism very well..I , think he's a awesome Blues player …. incredible player ..I saw Derek Trucks???? amazed him , great players ????
