What I care about most is which makes my combo amp sound best, I don't record anything I play and have no desire to. But having some alternative preamps to plug into my power amp for variety, now that interests me.
I liked A the best and was very pleasantly surprised to see that it was the TC piece! C was very similar, B was dull, and D was similarly dull. Surely some EQ adjustments could have brough them all more in line?
B then A then D . C was to bright for me
Totally shocked to find that my least favorite was the UA. To me compared to the others it was quite harsh and ugly. The amp was the best followed by the TC (what a sleeper), then the Tonex (a bit distant sounding), the last of all the UA (big surprise)
I decided at the clean tones A is was the best sounding and kept the opinion all the way thru.
Only got the amp right lol. I should have known that D was the tonex because it sounded the most like the actual amp not eq'd or spruced up. The TC sounds like a mixed and eq'd version of the amp and I really liked it. The Dream was way too bright and thin for my taste. Overall, I think TC is crazy good value. I'll keep my tonex though since i can get so many other amp tones out it and i think it sounded really good with effects on top of it.
Paused right before the reveal. I prefer "A".
A, suprised by the reveal, was convinced that was the amp…
I liked A and B best…I was happy that my impression I got in other vids of the combo Deluxe 65 was confirmed here and I don't need to spend 350 $ for the dream 65…together with my 2Notes cab m it'll be huge!
I'm surprised about how much I loved the A sound and found the worst in B … The real thing…
Excellent comparison. I've seen a number of similar videos, but your back-to-back consistent playing followed by short clips is an excellent format. The TC pedal may be more crystal-clear than the real amp, but man, it sounds great.
A and C were my favorites, the D was clearly the worst (too dark). Also that first clean riff was nearly identical to one of my unreleased tracks. I'm glad I have a 20 year old demo of it in case we ever have to fight in court for it 🙂
I liked A best in this test. I was surprised which one it was. My least favorite was C (it was really bright on the top end, so maybe just the way it was set), which I was also surprised because I have it and love it and use it all the time. Thanks for doing the long for comparison followed by the quick A-B-C-D parts too. Super helpful.
my preferences
A: Real Deluxe with OX
B: Dream ‘65
C: ToneX
D: Tc pedal
C clips
Good job except I’m not really crazy about clicking on this based on your thumbnail and then two of the pedals shown weren’t even in the video.
Got a Tonex but wished I'd bought the Combo Deluxe '65 pedal.
B was my favorite by I didn't pay attention to D in any test lol. Checking afterwards B and D are the closest, though. I actually liked the TC and UA pedals a lot.
I thought C was the best till the last one where he played a lead line
Really like the A. Do you think Tc combo 65 would be good choice for pedal platform. Im planing to put on my pedalboard n go direct! Thanks!
I was correct on A and C because I have them both (well I have the actual Dream 65 pedal). The Dream 65 sounds better than the TC.
What cab were you using in the Ox with your Deluxe? Was it the 1×12 deluxe option?
A and C has been my favorites. I'm surprised cause I have a TC Electronic and a Deluxe Reverb 65 captured through a Torpedo captor. Very good video. Thanks.
A and C stood out with clarity and eq that would cut through a mix well. A was my overall favorite. Surprised at the result. Because I have the TC Electronics pedal.

I thought A and D sounded great. C was too scooped and really harsh on the dirty stuff. I’m super impressed by that TC pedal the more I hear it.
My favourite Tone was A, the tone of C was definitely too bright. I could not seperate the amp from the other sources.
