Interesting Kinda weird to tuck the pinky and use ring finger instead. That was several years ago though, maybe the author has grown as a bassist since.

The main riff is just the open E–there's no octive on the A string. The pre-chorus is a simple 3-3-5-5-6-6-7-7—7-6-6-5-5-3 on the E. Later he does the same pattern on the A string with 10-10-12-12-13-13-14-14—14-13-13-12-12-10.
