Wiring a New Custom Bass Guitar – #diymusician

I chose a Tone Emporium single pickup for this instrument. No sponsor…I paid for these. I’ve always felt that pickups matter, and there’s probably a steep slope of quality in the first $50. So I wouldn’t use the cheapest thing possible off Amazon and see if they are OK. These were $80 Canadian, and honestly, I’m just trying something that seems about the right price as much as anything. Listening to a tone test on the internet is pretty much useless IMO, because it’s not your bass, your strings, your fingers. If you like your $200 pickup, that’s fine. But I’m wary of buying the “best” because of FOMO. I’ve always had the opinion that once an instrument sounds “good” you learn how to play the nuance of that instrument.
