Were the pickups the same and adjusted the same height and position?
I've got a semi but enough about that's, let's talk about the guitars.
The second one, the black 1977 Semi Hollow, wins by far… What a wide range and well balanced sound…
looks like the 175 is using the bridge picup hence the difference
Love them all.
335 and more 175 sounds skimpier than SG. Very surprising
Best comparison’s yet. Thanks
Semi hollow body got me!
I like semi the most
Couldn't tell the difference.
What are the pickups on the hollow, very bright sound was not expectin that!
Nowadays, The body itself is the kind of style you enjoy, then it’s honestly the Pickups and preamp system that matters (barely)
gibson is a scam. you can do better.
which is more natural sounding if i use more of finger style including lead but no blazing solos
Always loved the look of a 175. Wish they had a center block and a fixed bridge.
They all sound 99.9999% the same except the last one. That sounded 89% the same.
The full hollow definitely stands out
Are the pickups the SAME? Because the sg and the semi hollow sound almost the same, save the semi hollow has a certain woodier echoed sound. The lead playing on them was nearly identical, the slight difference is more apparent on chord work. The Hollowbody has a flat tinny sound. So……
The cause of the difference must also be considered due to the difference in the tailpiece.
ES-175 definitely. It's the best product Gibson ever created in my opinion.
The Hollowbody sounded much brighter than the other two. Were the settings the same? Any differences in the pickups?
Thanks!
At least use the same pickup for a proper comparison.
What a lame way to gage gibson guitars … tinney shitty sounding amp demo. Gibson should sue you for this crapola
335 for the win i have a gretch ide take over any ke oaul ive played
Gotta go with the ES-175. Steve Howe coaxed some great songs out of one.
When his wife was giving birth to Lennon, he was there next to her playing guitar and singing Here Comes the Son
It's interesting how similar they are
I am far from the criticism here. But if I may say so this amp setting won'tt show you s**t.
I guess i need a hollow body
Hollow
Hollow ????yes
Use a better amp sound
me encanta el sonido más cremoso de las guitarras huecas
There are subtle differences, but in the context of a complete signal chain (and even more so in the context of a full band mix), I don't think they would be clearly perceptible. I also don't know if the sonic differences are entirely attributable to the differences in body style, or if other factors are also at play.
It's perfectly acceptable to prefer any one of these types of guitars for aesthetics or for the physical feel of playing one. I'm showing up to jazz gigs with hollow-bodies. But I no longer believe that it necessarily sounds different from a solid-body with the same pickups.
Nice comparison. I have a Les Paul and an acoustic Ibanez and have wanted to venture into a hollow/semi hollow electric sometime soon.
