i just use an 808 with a built in kick and then i add a soft clipper and turn the post all the way up

Put blood overdrive on master turn colour all the way up and main knob up slightly then turn down of all of blood overdrive half way thank me later
the problem i keep seeing is people treat both as one you would never side chain a guitar to sit on a bass or compress a mid to get a low

If you are too lazy to do this you can also reverse the polarity of the kick to math the wave forms of the 808. I've been doing this for awhile since its fast, but if you have the time and aren't lazy then do the method in the video.
I mean this is more of a basic setup for a kick + 808, rather than making "kicks and 808s hit harder". It's like, what's making it hit is…that they're there now which they weren't before 😀

Yeah, but you can just eq sidechain on the mixer eq with fruity peak controller. This way you can custom set the frequency range u want to sidechain rather than the whole volume of the bass. Sidechain compression often sounds bad in the longrun so the method stated above is my go to.
