Great sound through a small amp. The Silvertone 1459 guitar amp is tough to beat for quality sound per dollar. Playing a Gibson Les Paul with humbuckers gets awesome distortion at low volume.

  • Just got one of these for ten bucks at a yard sale, it’s in great shape, no wear and sounds great. When I was just starting into guitar playing in the 60s Silvertone Amps were everywhere. They are awesome. Thanks for a great video presentation. ????????????????‍♂️????

  • Just a little safety issue to deal with here. This amp does NOT have a power transformer (what is also known as a "widowmaker" amp), or a fuse, and it does not even have a death capacitor. Be very careful, because this amp can seriously shock you. I would recommend installing an isolation transformer, a fuse, and a three pronged power cord for good measure (there are many tutorials out there on doing all three). It's a great little amp, just not safe in its original state.

  • They did but you had to pedal them really fast to get them to distort, but the Lutes would sustain for days, tough on the fingers though.

  • The 1459 is smaller and quieter, so it distorts at a lower volume witch is nice if you dont want to destroy your hearing or upset the neighbors. If your not playing with a band you dont need much volume, it's a great personal amp. One of my favs. The 1481 is also a great amp, just cost alittle more. Thanks for the question. Please like, share, sub and play.

  • Yes the distortion will increase with the volume knob. You use the guitar volume and tone to give more or less clean or crunch. The pedal I use is just a boost, it boost the signal and adds even more distortion. Thanks for the comment.

  • Also, how would you compare this and the 1481, which seems to go for a lot more on the market?

  • THanks for the video. I really don't know much about these simple tube amps, but I love the idea of them and tone is great. WIth one volume control, does the distortion increase with the volume? Is it — soft/clean, loud/crunch? How does the boost pedal factor in?
