lol mark knophler is easily one of the best guitarists to have existed. Guitarists know this. Idiots don’t. He played rhythm and lead. He played flawlessly live. His style was understated and appreciated by guitarists. He doesn’t skip a beat.
He's not a guitar hero period…a guitarist yes…a guitar player yes… hero to someone perhaps…hero to the masses NEVER.
Knopfler isn't underrated. He's extremely well-respected as a musician, singer, song writer & arranger among the professional music community & listening public. In many ways he's a musician's musician. He likely just never cared for the traps of being a bigger-than-life music icon, and avoided being placed in a life long role as an overrated celebrity
