All that just for the bass to be buried in the mix????????
I love Geddy’s tone. I play a jazz bass with a EHX bass soul food… mmmmmmmhm ????????
Back off the drive the slightest touch, but yes.
I'd say give it less gain and more mids, and it'd be spot on
The Sansamp bass DI is awesome
Too much distortion. But close you need a real aggressive attack and almost slap the strings to get the overtones
In the clip of geddy your also hearing the ambience of the live gig…almost like an echo or reverb of the gig itself picked up through the mic
He didn't get it
Close. Would need to hear it in a band setting. Geddy's is a touch honkier.
Close
Yep!???? you got it.
You can't just throw an OD on and call it a day…
I think the tone knob should be more open
most of His sound s in his attack .
Someone please tell me what a Geddy is. Sounds dope.
Its very close but for the amount of time working on it he sure did great
I think Geddy’s tone is cleaner and less fuzzy imho of course
Real close. Maybe play with the pedal a bit more. But you're not going to replicate his right hand technique
Too much drive, boots the treble just a bit
Can you get an Entwistle -'78 sound (Won't Get Fooled Again – live)my personal favorite.
It's too dry, add some chorus, and midrange.
The people who are saying Geddy's sound has less gain have clearly never done any mixing. Bass distortion disappears in a mix.
You should use your fingernails as a pick
I think ya got it. Listen to it again.
Too distortion baby ????
Missed it. It’s not the pre amp. It’s his right hand. Attack and his fingernails. Everyone misses the nails. Soft meat of the finger followed by the clip of the nail, Chris Squire(Geddy’s tone hero) did the same thing with the edge of his thumb and the pick. I learned it on a 80’s Rockline interview with Geddy.
Kids ???? love it
Much more clarity in Ged's tone
He almost do it but i think Geddy tone is less distorted and more focused in the power of your fingers.
It’s hard to compare the tone on the short clip because they are showing 2 slightly different riffs. The little hammer on trill that you hear Geddy play is higher register and played on the g string and the Tone matching counter part riff is lower and on the d string. Both appear in the song and the riffs alternate. Aside from all that I agree that it needs less drive, different right hand technique, fresher strings and ideally some of that natural stadium reverb.
That almost makes me angry, how easy he did that. I tried to reproduce that sound with my HX stomp by biamping with a sansamp and a big clean bass amp (Gallien Krueger or Ampeg). This already sounds better than what I did for the most part
Way too much drive!
Song name?
What song is Geddy playing?
A little more gain in this one, but this sounds pretty close to the Counterparts tone to me.
more attack on the right hand. but close
Swing and a miss. Way too much fuzz. Geddy's is clearer, more defined, and has a much more aggressive attack.
No ????
I think it's a tad too distorted
