Bass Improvisation Techniques
This video is for my students, who are currently working on improvisation. It features a 4 bar loop of I, V, II, IV (Cm7, Gm7, Dm7, Am7) which they have been using, and some of the techniques that they have been working on including:
-Using the basic minor scales,
-Using pentatonic scales (in this case minor pentatonic – 1 3b 4 5 7b 8)
-Featuring the 9th as a “tasty” note (9th of each chord – D, A, E, B)
-Playing in the relative major scale of each chord (EbMaj, BbMaj, FMaj, CMaj)
This is just a demonstration to give my students, and anyone else who is interested, an idea of how to put ideas together 🙂

Oh great, now I've found another bass I want.
Great sound. It's a Cort B4 OPN bass. My next and new purchase.
That sounds good. I wish you would give some more explanation. I know the scales. It is difficult to be that creative with them.
