Nirvana Tone: Dale Demo | 1988 Studio Incesticide Guitar Tone with Amp & Pedal Settings
Celebrating the 36th anniversary of the Dale Demo, the tape from Nirvana’s very first recording session, by recreating Kurt Cobain’s tone from that tape. The majority of these songs wound up on Incesiticide, with the remaining tracks being released on the With The Lights Out boxset

Been waiting all day for this video to release, Mexican Seafood is definitely one of my favorite song & tone. Every tone is almost identical, very hard to tell the difference between the recording.

You should out this pedal against the behringer version
crunchy…just how i like it
This is when nirvana went under the name ted ed fred
Crazy how much his playing changed….but I can also see how the change leaned into them appealing to a wider audience. This stuff was really riff heavy, less of a straight punk rock influence, way more metal/stoner/noise and a splash of hardcore…and way more busy and tricky to play. As his songwriting consolidated, the riffs started to be replaced with counter melody. So you go from stoner metal to post hardcore/garage pop/alternative with all of the counter melody. He evolved so much
Nice video man????
I love your t shirt , this early nirvana flyer is dope
If you wanna hear Spank Thru from the Dale Demo just search on YouTube Nirvana-Spank Thru [Studio Demo] and it has a picture of Kurt and Krist playing at the vogue in 1988
I need this tone
dude i watch your videos and you do a really good job at recreating nirvana tone and sound (there my favorite band) growing up i always wondered how he did it and what he used you really break it down good job man… the only thing i was mistified by was some of his solos, like love buzz and oh the guilt, and endless nameless i never could figure those songs out even reading tabs in my youth. but good job keep it up
5:00 Karma Police outro
Play every nevermind/in utero songs with this tone, I NEED THIS PLEASE
Amp sounds good even with all the squealing. Sounds like a rugged demo. Nice.
I've alwayss admired how people can make traditional distortion and make it sound like a fuzz.
Nostalgia just overflowing out of those tunes
Sliver next?
It's a shame that I'm not closer, I would have done the recap for free.
I'd like to get my own randall and hi-flier, myself. I like the "Quack" of the clean tone, and the "nasal" quality of the distortion.
Good work. It's also my favorite nirvana era
I have heard conflicting reports, some say Kurt used the rg120ph but some say he used the rg100es.
I was studying when I found this video. It had been hours since the video was posted. I watched it and, well, let's just say I wasn't studying anymore. All the video's are incredible and introduced me to amazing pre-Bleach songs such as Pen Cap Chew and If You Must. Amazing. Can I suggest a video on all of Dale Demo's but with a Nevermind style? (Featuring the delay pedal?)
pretty close , awesome playing enjoyed mexican seafood and aero zeppelin ImI
white strat eater here, here from the floyd the barber video, second time watching this one and, MAN is this really close! most of the time the tones can be a bit too bright, but i think you genuinely nailed it here.
These are all my favorite songs and era of Nirvana. There’s just something I dig about this period and how they wrote their songs during that time. I’m glad to see others are acknowledging and enjoying this period! ????
Also my favorite drummer in Nirvana was Dale Crover as well. His approach was perfect and I loved his style of playing a lot! One of the coolest moments of my life was talking with him and the Melvins backstage! It was a surreal and unbelievable moment that I will never forget! ????
You’re playing paper cuts wrong. And Aerozepplin
I kinda wish someone would do videos like this for Jerry Cantrell/Alice In Chains
YOURE A LEGEND, TEDEDFRED
