Crafter Crema S – A Strat Copy That Outplays Fender

What happens when a $500 Crafter guitar tries to take on the big F? Turns out – quite a lot. In this review of the Crafter Crema S, I unbox it, play it, tear it apart (gently), and figure out whether it’s one of the best modern S-types under 600 quid. Spoiler: I might be in love.

  • Thanks for posting this video. We have posted about it before but we don't quite have your reach. Such a great value guitar with a lot of nice spec for the money. Since you did our website has gone mad. We have live stock though for anyone searching for one of these in the UK (cheeky self-promotion, sorry!)

  • Looks like a really nice guitar, too bad it's not available in the States. Also, please take a second look at that black paint. I've used a product from MG Chemicals (not a sponsor), called 838AR Total Ground Carbon Conductive Coating. It looks like any flat black paint. When testing it with a multimeter set to Conductivity it fails, but set your meter to Ohms and it registers 3 to 5 ohms. I once sprayed a Tele in total as a primer coat, and it was the quietest single coil ever.

  • 12:00 funny you mentioned volume drops. As you might remember Andy i own a very rare Sun Dew Gold Ibanez Pia.
The volume drops significantly from the humbuckers to positions 2 and 4 in its 5 way switch.
You’d think a guitar that expensive would have a beefy middle pickup to combat that but no. You do get a pull/push treble bleed circuit on the volume knob which I suppose technically you can manage the volume drop but when you’re strumming etc adjusting the volume isn’t always easily done

  • I own a squire strat and American strat and a Australian Cole Clark Strat. The Cole Clark blows away the competition. All guitars are 100% original. Best sound, best neck and best feel Cole Clark wins every time.

  • 0:45 I like the colour. I’ve never been a fan of “tortoise shell” pick guards though.
That’s just my preference and easily fixed by buying a black one.
And i love HSS but prefer that a humbucker is not covered for aesthetic reasons.
    Again easily remedied.
    Cheers from NZ ????????????

  • Where is it made? Fender are outsourcing to Indonesia for a little more cheapnis (apologies F.Z.) Though there seems to be some quality control issues with them.

  • Thank you for stating how many pieces the body was made from and the type of wood it was.

  • I have a Crafter semi acoustic I think I was bought about 20 years ago? Lovely guitar

  • Yah, it's a rock machine that can do so much more. You can play 3 sets with that guitar in a cross over band, top 40/ Southern rock/ Country and certainly hard rock.

  • That bridge looks much nicer than the fender. I know looks aren't deceiving with Wilkinson. they make great stuff and if any one tells you different they don't know shit about guitars hardware.

  • Got to be honest…I think that is way overpriced when you put it up against things like Jet guitars and Harley Bentons.
It also didn't sound particularly characterful either.

  • i know its extremely off topic, but i'd love to see you do a video about a secondhand guitar in a shaky condition like electronics tuners changes etc to show how one can fix & flip a used instrument into the best it could possibly be. a great teaching moment i would entrust with you.

  • I used to run music shops. Crafter were one of my favourite brands. Top quality and loads of guitar for your money. They do superb acoustics too.
