its great! it only took me 2 minutes to find the switch position I wanted.
My audience and band were very patient, and when I finally dialed in the sound I was after, they all cheered with joy.
Awesome! Have a friend comming to the workshop tomorrow to actually get a 10-way installed. This video made me understand why 😛

I purchased 2 of these switches, a 5B5-01 & a 5B5-02. I installed the 5B5-02 a while ago and it works great.
Unfortunately, I just had the opportunity to install the 5B5-01 and I'm having problems with it.
Sometimes it works, but most of the time I have to wiggle the lever to get it to connect. This happens in all positions, but almost always in position 1 (6).
Unfortunately, my requests to FreeWay for help went totally unanswered. The only contact method on their website that I could find was a contact form.
Its been over 2 weeks and no contact.
I finally took the switch apart and fixed the problem, but upon the close inspection of the mechanics, I concluded that the build quality is subpar in my opinion. I'm unsure how long my 2 switches will continue to work. I hope for the best, and I also hope that my conclusion will be proven wrong over time… We'll have to wait and see.
I wanted to give Freeway the benefit of the doubt, but other than the questionable build quality, their customer support seems to suck, and that is completely unacceptable, and unquestionable.
So, buyer beware…
To sum it up…. In the lower bank: Regular strat positions 1 to 5… Upper bank: position 1 and 5 as a Les Paul… position 2 as a Jaguar, position 3 as a SemiAcoustic or a velvet LP middle position (maybe?) and position 4 as a Telecaster. Nice!
I like everything my Nash S63 does with – hot bridge pickup with the second tone control wired to it… the ONLY thing I am missing is the neck/bridge combination, which is why I've gravitated toward Telecasters my whole life. I don't want to mess around with a blender pot, I just want neck/bridge along with all the other Strat goodies.
I mean, after all, the series bank is the selling point.
After watching a few videos, I think 500K pots would go nicely with the Free Way.
I have a few that measure around 450K. We'll see how it goes.
Will I ever use all of the positions? No. But do I want it? Yes, yes, I do.
@Darrell: I have a Fender Strat with 3 Fender 4 Gen Noiseless pickups and this Freeway switch 5b5-01 (bought thanks to this video). What I would like to know is: is the 6th position (bridge+middle pickups in series) the same with a bridge Fender Shawbucker? I mean, I'd like to know if replacing the current bridge single-coil pickup with a bridge Fender Shawbucker used in position 1 would make a significant difference to the current setup (bridge+middle pickups in series).
What do you think? I wouldn't want to buy the Fender Shawbucker if it would not make great difference to the bridge+middle pickups in series".

Imagine you could ad push pull tone pots with different capacitors and have a whole bunch more tones
Is there a way to wire it so the bridge pickup can be wired to a tone knob in the standard Strat bank? I've always liked the option of using the tone knob for the bridge.
I have a freeway switch in My MIM Strat and I really love it.
Some of this tones (bridge + middle in series) remind me Billy Corgan's live strat sounds live during the SD and MCIS era. Does anyone know if he had his guitars wired similarly back then?
For the record, this switch does not work on the Eric Clapton Strat. Has something to do with the noiseless pickups and the 3rd knob which is a db boost rather than a tone control.

Sounds to me that alls you need to do is roll back the tone knob to get the extra 5 tones from this new switch.
I wonder if I could install this on my SG Ibanez. HB /S/ HB… my switch is crusty.
Hi, the explanation is very clear, but I'm missing 2 pieces of information:
1. Does it also work with 3-wire noiseless pickups (in particular I would like to use the Fender Ultra Vintage Noiseless)?
2. Compared to a real HB (Seymour Duncan JB full size), what do bridge + center or center + neck in series lose (power, frequency differences due to distance, dynamics)?

Looks amazing. I wonder if the Kingtone switch can be wired in at the same time. Also wonder if the Humbucker sounds are louder or the same volume. Guess they are louder which may be a problem if a band is sound-checked on the single coil sound. Still amazing though.

I'm definitely going to do this mod. There appears to be two 10 way switch options though. 5B5-01 and 5B5-02. What's the difference and which one would you recommend for a SSS Strat?
You need to make your video more succinct: in fact there's no reason to talk at all. Just put the pickup positions on the screen and play the darn thing. Put the pickup combos on a graphic overlay to the vid. Your playing samples are way too long. just a few solo notes on each of 10 positions, then a few chords on each of ten positions. It's like your #1 mission is to waste viewers' time, and only #2 to actually tell about the product. I have no idea how you got so many subscribers when you have so little respect for your viewers. I've never seen your channel before and hopefully won't ever see it again.
The 10 way switch is AWESOME! Tele, Gibson, & Strat in one guitar. I have the Seymour Duncan Antiquity Texas Hot pickups and I am still discovering new sounds. It only cost me around $150.oo to have it installed. Thanks for the review.
