Honest question: When playing alternative and/or indie rock in general including Dream Pop or Shoegaze, does it HAVE to be played with a Fender? Can I use other brands and types of guitar besides Fender? I’m trying to avoid Fender as much as I can lol

(got a BL shirt, cool) – for the no instrument question, in Ableton there is a strum feature now, so technically one could get a guitar sound, use the transform/strum, add an amp sim and cab, apply effects chain, play a I, IV7, and maybe get a shoegaze sound thing.
