  • I try to capture this essence. I’m a lead bassist and whenever I’m doing a solo I don’t want to just spam licks that I strung together but think of music as a language and really make my solos sing. Sometimes I absolutely implore for some shredderiness. But for the most part, since I play with heavy distortion and chorus, having spaced out or melodic lines makes the solo sound better and more memorable.

  • I agree that this type of mindset while practicing is probably a lot more useful than running scales or patterns that you already have down pretty solid.
