  • I’d also encourage learning the scale on a single string. It helps to internalize the intervals and helps break out of the box. Start at the Root, then three semitones (frets) to the minor 3rd, two semitones to the perfect 4th, two semitones to the perfect 5th, three semitones to the minor 7th and two semitones to the root an octave higher. Learn each scale on each string. It’s a great way to learn the fretboard. I like to sing each note as I play. Sometimes I’ll sing the note, other times I’ll sing the interval name.
