Black version is now available on their website!
Hi all, i just saw another video on here called "Microcosm, the best pedal for drums?".. it showed an example of a guy using the Glitch-Blocks-Setting1 one to turn a simple beat into a more complex one, similar to an older NIN beat almost..i was curious if you guys knew of any other pedals that could do that same thing or similar decentlly well?
Defo NOT a guitar pedal, much more a drum or synth partner for programmed work
I wish hologram would make just the mosaic (or micro loops) setting into a pedal without the rest. I sold mine after a few months of buying it and that is the only thing that I miss.
It's not a verb or delay pedals though…
Buys delay pedal. Says they'll never use it as a delay pedal. (????)????
Yah if I have a bunch of pedals that do the same thing and one pedal that DOES THEM ALL, I’m going to make room and sell all the redundant pedals. Not the opposite. ???????????? (The one thing the Microcosm benefits from is a great stereo widening after it in the chain)
Can you explain the TIme knob and specifically the subdiv and tempo buttons? I'm a bit confused on what those settings do?
I'd never sell mine. You're always going to get other pedals that have overlap at some point. If anything because I have a Microcosm, I don't have a reason to get a Big Sky. I'm not one of these wishy-washy ppl that will comment that they're keeping it and then come back in an instant to say they just sold it. lol.
Guitarist Tom Lippincott has stated he's going to produce a video on how he uses it, and I'm really interested to see what he makes use of with the Microcosm, it's one of the staples for his pedal board. I'd hate to have gotten rid of it before finding out what a talented jazz guitarist can do with it.
Sold mine…………….since then, I've had a Cosmos, MOOD MkII…….then, over a year later, I found myself purchasing another Microcosm………
microcosm is very noisy pedal 🙁 for ambient nuances.
anyways, you ended selling the bigsky and keeping the meris x?
I feel like hologram pedals play way better on synths than guitar.
Ive gone the other way. Selling Mood MKII and Onward, keeping Microcosm. There's just something about Microcosm, and just when you think you've heard it all, you find something else. I've absolutely considered selling it before though. Just can never go through with it.
I sold mine last year and ive regreted it and im about to head out and pick up one again.
granted i dont have an expansive pedalboard to replicate some of its features, in fact i only have a couple of pedals as i am not a guitarist mainly but like to doodle.
other people have mentioned it here very well: there is something almost meditative and theraputic about it and i loved playing some lil melodies into it and just living wtithin the ambience
I just finally bought one I finally found one for less than the price directly from the company I don't understand why people are charging so much for these used are they always out of stock?
I very recently (like a couple of hours ago) acquired a Microcosm. I am not a guitarist. I plan to use this in an electro-acoustic setting with flutes kalimbas and a Roland AE-20. I'll let you know how it goes. My initial experiments with a MicroFreak have been fun. I speak fluent MIDI and I plan to exploit that aspect of the Microcosm a lot.
I also think this pedal is more useful outside of the realm of guitar. I play guitar also, but anticipate using this with synths, drum machines, and samples for sound design. I completely get not wanting to integrate it into a guitar setup though, especially for gigging reasons.
Hologram needs to put out a smaller form factor Mosaic and expand on it. It’s why this pedal sells.
Nice informative vid! I've got one on the way to me and there's one question I. can't seem to find the answer to…..will it take a microphone (sm57) direct into it? I realise it's a dynamic mic so the signal will be a lot lower but with a cheap phantom powered preamp in between, that should do it? shouldn't it?
I want two pedals in my life …
Cloudburst which i already have and the microcosm .
The “stereo” part of this pedal was a bit of a disappointment. Every program just sounds like dual mono to me … ????????♂️
I totally get and appreciate your reasons, I just want this pedal so much almost as a therapeutic sound dive whenever I have a spare few minutes/hours. There's something so relaxing about it
Mosaic sounds like its been lifted straight from the empress super delay rev mode C, or the Boss PS-3 mode 7.
cant you just take it off the board and keep it?
Traded mine so fast…. Got something ese that felt like $500
Meris LVX.
Trends come and go. People will laud the next big release and forget about it months later.
i thought about selling mine but then i bought a couple small synths last year and now its just glued to them
I understand the logic of your decision. For myself I’ll never sell mine as a matter of fact I’ve been considering buying a second one. I like the unpredictability of the algorithms. I refuse to work with a pedal that has graphical/building block interface Ike the LVX, way too much tweaking and dinking around rather than composing. But that’s just me. Again, i think your logic is sound and i always enjoy your posts and your perspective; much respect. Carry on!
It's for repeats…
Great pedal, but i just sold mine for many of the same reasons. I have a lot of reverbs as well as the Pladask Baklengs and Habit which I find to be a bit more interesting for ambient granular/pitch/delay effects. Plus i never used the looper.
