Great wisdom from a forum long ago: Don't waste too much time and money on pedal effects until you have practiced enough to have good tone coming from your hands. What's enough? Do you like the tone you hear coming from your guitar and your hands? If no, try one pedal at a time until you really understand what the controls do and what all that pedal can do.
A BOSS compressor pretty much does it for this old man … And that stays off most of the time.
I started building my pedalboard with pedals I loved—like the D&M and Superego+—but I’m no longer using the Superego+ and haven’t yet figured out where to fit it within my setup. I added the HX Stomp XL to experiment more and now mostly play at home through an audio interface, rarely using my amp. While the HX Stomp XL covers a lot, I’ve also incorporated a dedicated amp sim (TONEX One) and a separate cab sim (UA OX Stomp) for greater tonal flexibility. I really enjoy playing stereo clean jazz sounds using just the HX Stomp XL, but prefer the TONEX One’s amp tones for overdriven sounds. This evolving setup lets me tailor my rig for different styles and moods.
Thanks for the show guys. Have fun on your vacation Mason.
Great episode.
I’m in a situation where I need one more power supply output. I’m using a strymon Zuma. Should I double up a cable for my two analog overdrives(chase bliss brothers am, Maxon od9) or my 2 analog modulation pedals(boss Ce-2w, boss vb-2w)? Thanks a bunch
Clean boost and TS for sure. I have that paired with a Notadumble which is slightly redundant but a whole lot of fun!
Tube-breaker ….and Blues-screamer…. Got it! Let’s Go!
