Definitely looking to purchase a Barefaced 210. I’ve enjoyed my Trace and Peavey 410 cabs in the past but the Barefaced 210 is so portable and an awesome sound.
I'm extremely impressed with the design, engineering, and sound of Barefaced cabs and will definitely get a Big Baby 3 or Super Compact T to replace my other cabs! Another fantastic review!!!
If I wasn't watching the screen, there is no way I would have guessed that I was listening to a 2 10 cab!!!!! Alex is a genius bass loudspeaker cabinet designer and builder!!! The Big Twin 2 puts out deep and defined bass!!! I'm really looking forward to getting a Super Compact T in the coming months!!!
I have been using a Barefaced Big Twin II for 4 years in all types of settings, including festival stages and a variety of outdoor gigs with no back line support. I play in three bands, including on 7-piece outfit and a 9-piece “horn band” with two loud guitarists, and the Big Twin II has not only never let me down, it has never even “broken a sweat” to keep up with these bands. I have been driving it with a variety of 600 to 800 watt heads (Mesa M-Pulse 600, Mesa WD800, and Demeter D800) and it always sounds great!
No tweeter & it sounds clear and deep? Wow, that's gotta be the cab that will finally get what I need outta my main rock style 4×10, but in a smaller footprint w/o loosing anything.
Thank you Barefaced!!!
Am I one of the only bass playes that think Dingwall's other than the B string, just aren't actually that great sounding basses? Lol, that outta the way, these cabs are next level nice!
I can't make up my mind though…
So far I like the 2×10, w/o the tweeter. It's probably IMO the best for the rock/metal material I'm playing.
That said…
Barefaced are designing & building the best sounding 12in cabs for bass guitar I've heard yet. (Usually I'm a ten inch speaker fan.)
They don't seem to have that weird upper mid chirp to that most 12in bass speaker cabs unfortunately have.
After I make up my mind, I cannot wait to pull the trigger on one of these cabinets, they're SO good!
A rip off company
I LOVE that this cab doesn't have a tweeter yet the high mids and highs are clear/bright.
Based solely on this video, I prefer the tone of the 2×10. The BT2 seems to bring out string noise that distracts, and the lows seem muddy. The 2×10 has a lovely clear and warm sound that would cut through the mix.
I'm so torn as the BT2 seems on paper much more versatile. I just don't know if I can dial in that 2×10 tone if I wanted to.
Dingwall B string over rated.
Which bass amp are you using with the Barefaced cabinets? Thank you for creating the demo and explaining the features.
I am surprised Barefaced is building bass cabs with 10's after Alex had been so critical of them in the past. Perhaps it is more of a marketing decision because most bass guitarists have never had the opportunity to play out of his other cabs or a Greenboy designed cab.
Impressive. And even at US$1600 a lot cheaper than back surgery. I need one.
Too much speaking, sorry.
Best will be to plug different amps, fet or valves, and guitars, active, passive, and to record it as best as possible.
That is not to honor these great cabs as you did it…
Been waiting for a demonstration of these cabs. Sound great as expected. I now am obsessed with barefaced. Greetings, all the way from Memphis!
