Capturing Metallica’s Load Era Guitar Tones – Mesa MkV-25 & Master Effects PMEQ
Had fun dialling this tone and jamming the riffs. The Master Effects PMEQ is a monster. They all have their own strengths and this one shines right here!

I just wanna give you some appreciation man!!! Loved these tunese since 91, just got Master Effects Trinity bout to order this! Your videos are GOLD
Have any suggestions on setting for the black album tone?
Nailed the tones! Perfect video.
I love this era, wish I could achieve the tone on my boss katana
Ollie is like Ola's Pix… they want the spotlight!
Those two albums don’t get the love they deserve. They were like a new, darker sort of southern hard rock
Nah…….skip ????
Those albums really do stand up, but I hated em at the time. Good job.
How much was that PMEQ to get to aus chop?
I just got a tone that sounds alike with the metal muff i'm in love with ut
This is how the rhythm guitar should always sound. The best Metallica guitar tone was on that era.
Thanks for video, your good bro! I grew up on early Metallica and Megadeth, so its a no brainer so just ordered this pedal. Into axe fx mark C++ is gonna be a dream come true! Mesa amp tones just make sense for playing Metallica and i understand better why they they play what they play. Reading/understaning music, great rhythm/lead TONES and shitloads of practice!!!
Awesome. You must have a great ear to be able to reverse engineer these tones
It's too much tolk!…..
Trying to figure out which master effects pmeq to get is not easy.
I finally know the birds names now.
This is amazing man! I actually used my Boss GT100 and used the modern rectifier preamp and done some EQ'n similar to this and got a really close tone. You have a fantastic ear that's for sure. Would you ever attempt some of Metallicas more recent tones?
Would you consider a video with the master effects pmeq and the Marshall dsl20hr? I love how you create your tones and would love to hear your ideas with that combination. Thanks in advance and you rock my friend!!!
When you really listen to Load and ReLoad? You notice the riffs are very Sabbath ish.
King nothing that tone is so spot on that it’s just sounds exactly the same, good hearing.
Fantastic video!???????????????? I loooove the Load albums!!! Great point on what you said about them evolving after doing the same thing for years!
I would pay GOOD MONEY to have a tone session for the Garage Inc Mercyful Medley tone… absolutely krushing
One of my fav ‘tallica tones from this era is “Carpe Diem…”
Honestly the tone from load are just chunky asf! It worked so well with what they did, it was one of my fave tones from any albums outside of Metallica.
Lambchop, can you do Suicidal Tendancies Trip at the brain, or How can I laugh tomorrow. Both have similar but different tones. The latter has a real 80's surf/ Satriani/almost beach boys feel to it. Reckon you'd find it interesting to replicate.
I’m on a trip to the US in Jan / Feb – going to order a PMEQ now
