  • Modern Supro amps are pcb garbage. Psionic Audio advises against them. Supro amps have tube sockets mounted directly onto the PCB, which is a major point of contention. Tube sockets, particularly those for power tubes, generate considerable heat, potentially causing solder joints on the PCB to weaken or fail over time. This can lead to reliability issues and potentially expensive repairs. Modern Supro amps use lower-quality components, including cheaper potentiometers and capacitors, which may impact their lifespan and tone. The combination of PCB construction, PCB-mounted tube sockets, and potentially lower-quality components means modern Supro amps are not as durable or long-lasting as vintage or hand-wired alternatives. 'American made legacy company still making quality amps' in China, apparently. I wonder is Supros come with spying devices free of charge?

Junk amps. There are far better alternatives available. Only the less informed buy these, and they regret it when techs refuse to work on them due to their pcb construction. You were warned

  • Does this amp happen to have a strong 410 Hz frequency and or inspired by the dark story of the Montauk Project??

  • Nobody else like John Bohlinger anywhere, who can give you a 'real' player's POV of gear, and the "player' is what always stands out in his reviews. He's got chops for days!

  • Sounds fantastic clean. Not sure why i thought i didn't like Supro amps, from an impression from years ago. But, when i was looking for a Deluxe Reverb, there was a 1640T next to it, and the 1640T was so much nicer. I still bought a Deluxe, though—didn't trust my ears…. With this Montauk, i'd have to compare it to a Princeton. Again, i think this one sounds 'better,' but i trust the history/reputation of the Princeton. At some point, i'll stop listening to history.
