High gain can be hard to tame and mould how you want, so in this video I’m going to show you how I like dialling in different high gain tones using one of the most common high gain amps around, and one slightly less common amp.

Celestion moved the manufacturing of the v30 back to UK, the 2006 (china) has a huge boost around 6k (hellish brittle fizz). 2022 (china) is considerably better, but far from optimal. The new 2024 onwards (UK made) is where it is supposed to be. I believe you should check the new ones and compare if you're not aware of what you got there, it might be a surprise.
Nothing against far east manufacturing, but it just did not work for the v30, really.
You don't scoop the mids. You start at 0, and then slowly turn up the mids until you get that wonky tone, then back it off slowly until you get no more wonk.
I thought I was going to get some insight into tuning my amp, but it appears, I've come to the wrong place.

5150 always sounds badass especially for modern rock/metal
It sounds like you have lots of extra vibration noise coming from the strings or springs when chugging.
Nice you called out the Cab as vital. So many people do not talk about the importance of the cab and micing. You can hear a far far bigger difference than doing something like say swapping a Dual Recto with a 6505.

It’s funny cause your end result for the 5150 tone is exactly what I end up with every time lmfao, and my sound engineer friends will be like NO WHAT ARE YOU DOING and I’m like lol and they’ll try to tell me I get lost in a mix and I never do so idk what they’re talking about they don’t play with feeling like I do LOL

It's great how you emphasised the importance of cabs (cab + mic to me more precise). You can hear from these examples how actually close those two amps sound at high gain when identical cab/mic is used.
Which 5150 is this ? Ori peavey or Newer ?
