C Jazz Blues with triad voicings
Playing chords on a jazz progression can be quite complicated, and the voice leading, the extensions and alterations makes us forget about making music. Using triads for chords is a very practical and easy way to play full chords and still have a lot of flexibility to interact with the rest of the band. This lesson is going over how you find triad voicings for a C jazz blues and also demonstrating what you can do with the voicings you find using melodies and inversions.

Great lesson Jens! I have been inspired to return to music by you. I have been a jazz lover for a long time and when I listen to GB Cookbook it blew me away. I also like Wes, McGriff, Pat Methaney and others. I really like the PDF downloads from you they are so helpful. I use to have Band in a Box software. And was wondering what music software you like.
Wow , Jens I sincerely want you to know how greatful I am for this particular lesson… I absolutely found so much information I can really use and develop into my own blues. …. its very difficult to find good quality lessons THAT JUST SO HAPPEN TO BE IN LINE WITH WHERE MY OWN ABILITIES AND KNOWLEDGE IS AT …and even when somebody may be great at conveying quality information its still often far from where ones own skills or approaches ate at … hence its difficult to properly apply … TRIADS OVER BASS NOTES , HOW TO BUILD THEM , YOUR KNOWLEDGE OF CHORD SCALES n INVERSIONS FOR ARPEGGIOS …Always seem to continue building from an honesty about other players learning …
I can apply this and actually USE IT !!! very excited to get moving ….
THANK YOU VERY MUCH …
greatful , Franky
Mr. Larsen: Just noticed your very standard answer. You apparently missed the whole point or just don't give a fig. Sorry to hear that. You too, could learn a lot by listening, paying attention. What's your hurry verbally anyhow ? Stu Goldberg
yo, really great your sharing your expertise…now if you could would only slow down your rapid (as if you had but ten minutes and the train station was thirty minutes away), delivery, then many of us might better comprehend your offerings. You're not alone, ninety nine % of other performer teachers fall into the identical category. There's a great deal more to teaching than just sitting and doing your well practiced expertise and that means knowing your audience isn't on your level and your job is to assist them slowly, clearly, not rapidly spewing out verbiage half under your breath and expecting a positive result, sorry to say. Thanks for listening and your teaching anyhow, but here's hoping you will do better. Stu Goldberg, a teacher of many physical skills.
Also, I'd like to see what you can do with some pedals. I've seen you use a fuzz before in one Instagram video and it was sick! I wanna hear you experiment with some delay and chorus or even a synth.
Hello, Tony Ciccariello here.
Thanks for the lesson, very nice playing.
I also love that Gibson & Ibanez.
Liked the vid and subscribed.

i take it i can use these triads to build apreggios from and to incorporate lead over? Mixing lead and chord voicing and having that target note is not so easy. Great lessons, Jens and thanks for your time.
Merci Jens.
Thanks Jens, I very much interested in triads. One question when soloing with triads how do you know which triad pairs to use?
Thanks for that.
Hi Jens. I really like and appreciate your lessons. They are very well thought out, contain information a fumbling guitarist like myself can spend a lifetime trying to figure out (I'm 55) and you present them in an easy to understand, likable, humble, friendly manner. Could you possibly sometime do a lesson on ways to approach varying the rythm when playing single note lines. In particular playing fast phrases leading to target notes.
can teach us about the harmonic mode and how to use it
