  • How would that work with 2 pre amps, 1 power amp and a 412 cab wired in stereo? Would I have to pan each pre hard right and hard left, or would I need a second cab?

  • I'm still waiting to see if you do an actual comparison of those B-52's vs the Earnie Ball Cobalts. I'm thinking that the packaging comparison alone would be a little weak. I'm curious to see what you think about real world playability. I've got them on one of my bass' and I was blown away. Not for my Motown and Blues stuff, mind you. I've got my jazz bass with handmade in the USA DR flat wounds on it. And I am hard pressed to find anyone who isn't impressed with those cobalts. Some folks at the very least say they're not their style but still give props. So, let's see that real comparison. I'm curious especially since all you play is metal and those cobalts are very aggressive strings.

  • Hey ***** , will it work with 2 distortion pedals, or one distortion and one overdrive?. I guess not everybody has 2 amps.

  • Great video, I'm very much a beginner guitar player and I really like the dry tone. How do you set your amp to achieve this sound? I've searched YouTube and Google but can't really find any sort of generic amp settings for it. I have a small combo tube amp and I occasionally stumble into something close but I don't seem to get the sound you do. Any advice would be great thanks

  • Great video TTK!!! I love the NEW INTRO!! Great way to "fatten things up." =) Remember the ear is a funny "instrument" and can be "TRICKED" into hearing things BIGGER than they really are. This is one way for sure, especially in a LIVE setting. Rock on!!!

  • Hi, ttk, i have some tip for it. I use some oldest racks racks that can do that job perfectly. Using a jmp1 or a mesa triaxis preamp (i have both) you can hook up one output of each one to the dry and one for the wet. So youll need one stereo poweramp like el-84 20/20 mesa dyna 20/20 or any marshall 9100 (i have both). so you can have a wet dry with this setup. If you use just one head (mono) split the preamp signal with an active ab box like boss ls-2. so in this way yoll need just a poweramp for the wet section. and use de poweramp stage of the head for the dry… Ps.you can use a solid state poweramp.. ..for the wet. Its ok…

  • Ive considered doing something similar when we play at clubs with house sound. Running podxt direct to house and using mic'd head/cab on stage. Then using foot switch via midi to control both. Has anyone tried this?

  • What fx are you using on your "wet" rig? Are the amp settings similar or do you have one set up to scoop mids, the other to boost for instance?

  • What I have been doing for years TK, is I have a Y cable going from my guitar, with one going straight into the amp, while the other is going into a Maxon OD808 then the fx loop.

  • hey hey! nice sweep / economy picking! up to new tricks or just been practicing? that 2 amp thing can be used w/out a 'wet' signal but delay's etc. can make it sound more spread out, but you can also just use 2 amps that sound/ sound different to get a thicker tone. phil x uses 2 evil robots or 1 robot and a ripoli plexi clone amp live to get a thicker tone but he doesn't use lots of gain so you can hear every note he plays!
i dig your new 'tone tip' format with the new intro etc.! yet another cool branching out topic from the tk! another could be 'how to run 2 amps' live or in recordings! phil x uses an a/b/y pedal that has a phase switch so he gets full balls instead of an amp doing some out of phase, nasally tone. i'm sure you have a better way so show us!
what kind of band were you in? striper cover band (kidding)? original stuff?

  • Great! I've heard that… you also could set one amp to the ammount of gain you normally use, and blend it with another one with a mild crunch to add clarity for lead and fatten up the general tone for chugs palm muting and all that great stuff
