The Secret To Playing Fast | Quick Tutorial for Beginner Bass Players
Here’s the secret to playing fast.
Many beginner bass players believe that the key to playing fast is to practice at high speeds.
However, this often leads to sloppy technique. Here’s a better approach:
Practice slowly: When you practice at a slower tempo, your brain has more time to process the notes and movements required to play them. This helps develop muscle memory, leading to smoother and more accurate playing. Gradually increasing the tempo as you improve builds up your speed.
Moreover, practicing slowly allows you to focus on technique, form, and avoiding injury. Perfecting finger placement, muting techniques, and hand positioning leads to greater efficiency and speed.
Be honest, do you practice slowly or do you attempt to learn songs at the original tempo?

I rarely learn or practice songs at slower tempos, but this depends on the song…
If it's "Treat You Better" by Shawn Mendes or "Counting Stars" I practice them at original tempos but if it is "La Campanella" by Franz Liszt I think I will play it at a slower tempo????
I start learning at a slower tempo for 30 minutes then one time trying the original tempo (for motivation and fun) and then slower again
Hello , your question comes just in time ???? I had just practiced very slowly on your Pachelbel cover using your score (thanks !)… I wish I can play faster soon…https://youtu.be/G82R2SEO0ww
