CONNECTING GUITAR AMP TO AUDIO INTERFACE / RECORDING TEST with various styles of CABLES

In this video you see how to connect a guitar amp to audio interface and listen a demo with various styles of cables.
the “noise” is grounding noise becase the cables are not balanced, in the Heaphones i put a (*) in mono because you can record stereo if you connect it to a double split cable/adaptor, as you can hear XLR cables transfer the signal better,
my favorite is the LINE OUT 2 XLR/1 XLR because sounds bold and very close to the sound of the amp but if you use stereo pedals you have to choose the last LINE OUT 2 XLR/2 XLR.

  • So… if i wanna use my distortion-pedals like BOSS DS1, i have to go to the amp at first and then via RECORDING OUT into the Interface => DAW ?

So you connected the amp to the audio interface and ahh what about the guitar ? Do we connect it to the audio interface too?

  • Interesting! My amp has a P10 line out. I've just bought a very modest interface with one instrument input and another for mics. I suppose I can use a P10/P10 cable to record and play with the amp on, adjusting what I need? I just needed to confirm that. Here your amp has an XLR output, or rather, 2. I'm not sure if the recording will be mono, but I can change that with software, right? A good copy paste might do. But that's cool, I just need an extra cable now. Besst video about interfaces I've found, very clear what you need to do. (but I don't wanna work with the driver thing!)

  • Stupid question. But if I follow your last connection you mention. With 2 XLR Cables, Will I get sound out of my amp?

  • Thanks for showing me it’s possible. I ended up using straight-up mic chords on my Mustang GT 100’s outlines (L&R), plugging them into inputs 1 and 2 on my 18i20 Scarlett. Match the gains for 1&2 on Focusrite Control 2, make a stereo track in Protools or whatever your using and BOOM! it’s all good. Still some “noise”, but that’s just the amp. A Boss EQ pedal or some computer cleanup (plugins) can clean that up if it bothers you, but I prefer to have the amp sound exactly like what I’m playing anyways. Hope that helps someone, thanks for sharing and keep on rockin!

  • So when I use my headphones straight from the amp I hear a static noise all the time. Will this interface get rid of that?

  • So are you able to plug the mixer into the amp then the amp into the guitar without using a computer? I’m trying to play live and I’m trying to see if this will help me plug multiple things into in amp.(mic, guitar, etc.)

  • hi, are u recording directly in line or using a microphone? i´m confused cause i see a microphone close to your amp

  • How can i use my amp as a speaker when using plugins on my computer e.g. my neural dsp messa boogie plugin…i want to use my amp as a speaker

  • My ACUS8 has a TRRS cable directly into the iPad… with video… awesome. No garageband. The AMP works as an interface.
