Tetra chords are a key concept that it seems only the great Kent Hewitt (amazing YouTube jazz channel) covers. It’s what you’re talking about here, without saying. It’s the overlap between related chords.
Just think of it as a diminished scale.
I always saw it as a Lydian 7 with the 9nth split in two, but this approach might be better for descending phrases.

Or, depending on where you start, think of it as the top half of Eb mixolydian followed by the top half of A mixolydian…. The evil cousins of C mixolydian and Gb mixolydian.
Gb lydian dominant or Db melodic minor or C dim whole tone are all the same scale but sometimes it takes a different way to view or conceptualize these things to get them through to students etc.
