  • Amazing as always ! 5:50 so reminds me Kevin Parker fuzz on Tame Impala – InnerSpeaker (Live From Wave House)

  • I'm pushing 50, I had a Tascam 4 track (mkii with the vari speed). I avoided overloading it because it sounded like shit. Still sounds like shit and I couldn't give less of a fuck about Mcgee or whatever. This sound is so easily obtainable I'm actually annoyed at JHS. An EQ will do it. Big misstep for Josh.

  • This pedal is amazing because no matter how you turn the knobs it makes everything sound bad. Jk, some of the high gain stuff sounded pretty cool.

  • The Cardigans used the Portastudio gain on the entire "Gran Turismo" record and that to me is a much better representation of what you can do with this sound and more interesting that how Mk.gee utilizes it. Great video as always, thank you for what you do.

  • To all you people putting down this pedal.
The sound of a pedal is RELATIVE.

What you find as the worst sound, another musician will find as the coolest and best.

How the hell can you not know this?

Musician Mk.Gee was the first to use this sound on a whole album and it was a sensation. Musicians everywhere were scrambling to find out how he got his cool and wonderful sound.

So it proves that it's absolutely stupid and pointless to say that the sound of a certain pedal is bad or the worst.

    There's no such thing.

  • See, I call it the Ariel Pink sound, but you kids wouldn't know anything 'bout that…

  • If it's anything like the color box, it will be great! The kind of utility pedal that really brings out subtle nuances in your sound, which will benefit your mixes.

  • I the tones and styles you used it for. But not something I'd buy. I kinda like it when pedal makers make pedals that I wouldn't ever buy. It ticks me off when they make something bloody great and it's pricey. Like the Boss DM-101, Chase Bliss Mood mk.II, Old Blood Noise Dark Star Stereo, or Meris Mercury X. The Toneking Imperial preamp is a good example of that. I'm angry at them for making a great pedal that costs sooo much, because eventually they'll make me buy it – even if I'll wait until it's cheaper or second-hand.

  • "The sound we’ve been avoiding for years" and will avoid further… Farting, "covered by a a pillow" sounds doesn't belong to the category of balance, elegance, transients in the right place, natural sounding harmonicas, and transparency in bringing out the wood of the instrument (the Fulltone Fulldrive 2 Mosfet is a champion in this regard). I'd say that's enough, wouldn't you?
But that's my taste and my experience telling me this, luckily I am used to good things, not fashionistas trends…

  • It seems like a fun tool to experiment with, and I like that JHS made a pedal that appeals to a younger generation of guitar enthusiasts.

  • Next month we pretend to be amazed because some late millennial early gen Z musician discovers what happens when you take a razor to a speaker or the "tone" you can get when you accidentally turn up the mic pre all the way. I mean it's fun and cool but it's really nothing new, big old nothing burger really. Good on Josh for making them buckaroos tho and passing it on to you Eirik.

    Peace

  • I would just get a strymon deco. you get tape overdrive, flange, vibrato, and slap back. great stuff for lofi tones.

  • Everything depends on how you use it in a mix, in the proper context this kind of broken sound can be the best thing ever. Might not be the main pedal for the average guitarist though
