  • Not articulate ? How could you tell ? 13K range is a pretty hot pickup, and a 9k in the neck is also pretty hot. With the heavy saturated gain, there's no tone.

  • Bridge pickup sounds pretty hot. Almost like an active pickup. But, I can hear what you mean about lack of articulation but at 149 bucks you really can't go wrong.

  • DUDE! Got a Fojill SG style a few weeks ago, $229. Set neck, trapezoid abalone looking inlays. Rainbow sparkly logo snd design on headstock, and that point matches the horns really well. It's body's offset like the Firefly SGs. Decent pickups and full-size pots. I top wrapped it with some D'Addario 9s. It screams and sings!

  • I think tone is in the pick attack and individual delivery..I love the budget guitar platforms. IYV, Leo Jaymze etc. Thanks for the awesome vids

  • I have a few budget guitars that are upgraded as needed. If you put a sticker over their headstock logos, you would think you’re playing $1500+ name brands. I would never cover the logos, though, because I’m proud to play them.

  • That guitar's not fo you, it's fo Jill LOL. Yeah I know, it wasn't that funny. Anyway, it sounds good, but then again that Blackstar makes everything sound good. Remember folks, if you need your knobs tweaked and your balls checked, Dave's your man!

  • Really, for $149 it's hard to go wrong with a mod platform. Still not wild about pre-reliced bodies, but even if you bought a shiny version of this, your point is still valid. I wouldn't be depressed for a week if I scratched this vs. a four figure Fender or Gibson. (Mind you if anyone is giving those away I will not turn it down! ????)

  • I know I've said it before Stanger, but again I thank you for your honest reviews and testing. I bought my first Fojill, my first guitar actually, based on your experience. That guitar was great right out of the box and still is. That was a year ago and now I have nice guitars from Firefly, West Creek, Gretche, and ESP. But mostly I play one of my four Fireflies or that Fojill. I did change strings on a couple of them and learned how to work on them without worrying about hurting a vintage collector this or that. These guitars make this hobby more fun because I can mess around and try different feels and tones etc. I come from the firearms hobby and noticed the same kind of snobbery with gun collectors and shooters. They all crap on stuff they really don't know, based solely on names and marketing. Anyway, sorry for the long post but I'm having a lot of fun learning and sharing! Keep your powder dry and your strings lubed!

  • I bought one of there blue flame maple top lps, the frets were the smallest frets ive ever seen lol. It looked nice from 6 feet away but up close was pretty bad on flaws and imperfections in paint and clearcoat. The edge binding where it meets the wood was rough looking, the edge of guitar also had lots of blems in clear like someone sanded the clear coat so had many rough spots. Maybe in a few years they will catch up to fesley or leo jaymz.

  • Easily an Epiphone beater, and that being said it's a legitimate alternative to a Gibson LP.

  • I've had my eye on the Fojil SGs for a min now. Seems like great mod platform guitars

  • I am not a fan of reliced guitars but they do offer a couple that are not. I really like the seafoam green option and it's laid out more like a traditional LP Toggle with 2 vol 2 tone. They claim the tuners are 18:1 same as Grovers I would have to count the ratio to see if it's true. IMO I would buy one just to try it's cheap enough worse case scenario great base for a project guitar.

  • Just recently heard about this brand. Seems they make a decent guitar. Also, for what you're paying this would be a nice project.

  • Great guitar for the price! Stick some warman pups in, some better tuners and I would gig with it no problem! I gigged for years with my 240 quid tokai LP!!!!

  • Awesome show. Just didn’t see the pick up test as to what they were put out. It’s an awesome starter for sure.

  • I love a good budget guitar, but I'm starting to learn to take the price of the guitar and add about $300 for upgrading the weak components, which are usually the tuners, pickups, and pots. I'm always happy with the outcome, though.

  • It looks good, but I think I'd probably just spend the extra 50 to 100 on a firefly. Especially with that neck pickup.
