Good Vibrations, an incredible bass line as played by the incredible Carol Kaye!
This bass line was conceived by Beach Boys genius Brian Wilson and played by the legendary Carol Kaye, who is an absolute legend in the world of bass. As part of the Wrecking Crew, she played on hundreds, if not thousands, of hit records, movies and TV themes.

Carol Kaye didn’t play on the version that was released
Brian Wilson created the line and music
She didn't write any of this. She just played it
It's not her music. That's just fact… Give credit where credit is due
Sloppy
Nicely done????????
Carols take didn't wind up on the song. And she didn't write it either so this line has nothing to do with her
Eh she was just a session musician. Brian wrote the bassline and she couldnt get it. Got frustrated. IIRC Carl had to do it for her.
Carol would disapprove of how the metronome is being used
Like others already said, Carol Kaye did NOT play on the released version of Good Vibrations (only in sessions); Lyle Ritz (Upright Bass), Bill Pitman (Dan Electro Bass) Ray Pohlman (Fender Bass), and Arthur Wright (Fender Bass) did. It’s also important to say that Brian Wilson composed the entire song: Carol had nothing to do with the bass line itself.
Carol Kaye is great but didn't end up playing on the released version of Good Vibrations (nore composed the line, Brian Wilson did). There are 3 bass players on the song Lyle Ritz, Bill Pitman and Ray Pohlman that deserve credit too.
Do we have to hear those clicks?
Cut, dislike.
That's not how the baseline in the chorus goes, why does everybody play it like that!??
Carol Kaye is a bloody fackin legend, mate! True blue.
What amp are you using and what year/model p bass is that? Also is that a tad of reverb im hearing? If so what reverb?
Never heard of her
Carol is a legend and a badass.
Such a great song
Ok mark can i have my p bass back now????? I'm guessing yours is real vintage..mine looks exactly the same but it's a 1999 fender Hot Rod bass…the P that thinks it's a jazz bass..NOTHING matches a P bass period!
DOESNT MATTER WHO PLAYED IT.ITS WHO CREATED IT THAT MATTERS.
I found out that she played on California Girls but I never knew she also played on this Beach Boys song as well.
Carol Kaye didn't play the electric bass on Good Vibrations. The electric bass parts in the song can be credited to Ray Pohlman, Lyle Ritz and Arthur Wright.
????sounds stupid childish
You've gone to great lengths to reproduce Kaye's playing style and technique, but neglected to add that Gold Star Echo.
There's also Joe Osborn, who played with Simon and Garfunkel, Ricky Nelson, Kenny Rogers and The Carpenters
no wonder i didnt heard about her almost at all, the worst most annoying bass lines ive ever heard
I bet she earnt a tiny fraction of the money that the "stars" she played with took.
There is a great video of her teaching Gene Simmons how to properly play Bass somewhere on YouTube… A must see
Can’t say I recognize them quite honestly
YAY GOOD SONG
So she played the metronome? Because that's all you can hear in this video
Yeah that's shit mate
