Fender’s Best Amp Goes ALL DIGITAL – Princeton Reverb Tone Master Review

Is the Tone Master Princeton Reverb the future of Fender amps?
In this video, I demo and review the Fender Tone Master Princeton Reverb — a fully digital take on one of Fender’s most beloved vintage amps. It’s lightweight, gig-ready, and tube-free… but does it actually sound good?
Stick around as I compare tones, show off the onboard features, and share my honest take on whether this amp lives up to the original — or if it’s just another digital disappointment.

  • I have one I play my 335 for clean jazz at 4. When my neighbors are around, I play at 6watts, when they are gone, I play at 12watts – can’t do that with tube version – well, you can with an attenuator – I had one made for my ‘78 pro and it caused the amp to overheat which in turn burned out a 6L6.
    Got it for $800. In 2023 – it’s a keeper

  • I remember that you didn't like the Tonemaster series because you said that they can't be repaired because it's like a computer. I still got my Fender Tonemaster Deluxe Reverb Blonde for 2 years and that's going strong

  • I have a 65 twin reverb, maz 18 BUT
I bought this little jewel and use it all the time! The weight is soooo nice and that goes right along with the great sound quality. Reverb is sweet! Ive used it for 2 1/2 yrs…no problems. Added pedals add extra dimensions to the sound. My favorite is my DARK SIDE pedal, Keely overdrive us also nice. I think its worth the money compared to chiropractic visits on my twin reverb! Ha!
    Just sayin!

  • There was a small batch of TM Deluxe Reverbs that failed early due to a batch of faulty diodes. It is repairable but Fender took care of most failures with a replacement unit. Otherwise, they're pretty reliable. A pal of mine has done 250 gigs with his TMDR with no issues.

  • These tonemasters are already coming into the shop. Instant dustbin and horrible build quality. No longer designed for service. Weight relief is one thing, but who’s looking for a flyweight Princeton?

  • My problem with digital modeling Fender amps is how quickly they step away from supporting their products. The Princeton is a terrific amp, although "the best" is an entirely subjective view. I totally agree with the view that they are grossly overpriced for an emulator amp.

  • I have a Tone Master Deluxe Reverb for about 3 yrs now and no issues. I mostly just use it at home as well so it just stays in one place in my practice area. I do love how light it is though , its my lightest amp.

  • I use a TM Deluxe Reverb with a Marshall Shredmaster pedal. Love it Sounds like the Ramones and weighs only 23 pounds!

  • Sounds pretty good. I have 2 real handwired ones- a 79 and a mojotone I made. I can’t tell how they compare in real life, but yeah- once the computer elements/software die or fail in some way, what is the answer? I can fix my real amps and they can always be fixed. I don’t think I would buy one of these things.

  • Love the tones from Tonemasters, for what they are, and the weight. But the price vs value isn't there compared to their tube brothers. The warranty should be 5 years for the DSP board if they want these to compare in value to the endurance and repairability of their tube brothers. I'd have bought a Princeton Reverb TM by now if I thought it was a good value as everything else seems right about it. But not with that cheap 2 year warranty.
