  • Very cool break down. I always get interested in the S series because the ultra thin body and light weight but I've never really got along with any that I've tried enough to wanna spend the money. I absolutely love RG/A/D so I usually just end up going that route. I don't currently own an RGA or RGD though and the new RGA are damn near perfect to me (aside from the odd fake neck thru wood laminates cutting that gorgeous top ????) but I've mentioned that before ha.

I guess it's just the nature of the economy but the price point of the new RGA Premiums make it a very hard call to buy. I'm pretty obsessive (lol) about watching used markets as a hobby to shop/trade/flip guitars and it's not uncommon to find great deals on used Prestige's in 1200-1500 range. My first Prestige the 5120M is the only brand new guitar I've ever bought besides my first squire like 100 years ago. If money was no object I'd probably always buy new just because it's fun and 'feels' cool/nice but the immense savings buying used are hard to ignore. I get buying used is scary to some but I'm confident enough in my basic luthier skills to correct any issues. Buying used through a reputable retailer isn't scary at all though, places like Guitar Center have a wild 45 day return policy no questions asked so basically no risk lol.

Appreciate the vid and discussion as always and despite my dislike of the design choice, I'd also take that RGA over the Axion label S.????

  • If I had to choose, I prefer regular tuners + GraphTech nut compare to locking tuners + plastic nut. I rather sacrifice a bit time when changing strings, compare to had to deal with tuning instability between songs that require a lot of bending.

I don't know what people at Ibanez had smoked lately. Hahaha…
