  • I'm living in Taiwan, and the weather here is usually very wet compared to the USA. I have tried both coated and non-coated Stringjoys, and typically they sound good for less than 1 month, while the coated XS can easily survive for more than 3 months. For that reason alone, I think it's worth every penny. I'm quite an active player, so I would say the XS is very tough and worth the price.

  • I really like D'addario nickel brass strings on my Takamine. It was a very bright guitar when I first got it. So I paired it with Nickel Brass Strings and the tone is lovely and warm now. Ebony bridge pins too I would highly recommend.

  • Yes, D’Addario XS are great. I play and practice daily for 2 hours and get a good 4 to 6 weeks from a set. Could get 2 months, but that’s pushing it. I don’t have acidic hands and I wash before playing as well. I’ve tried many brands, which you should, but I truly think XS is dominant for now.

  • I gotta try these. I've done a couple of cycles of those old timey martins with the nickel and they're too warm…I need the shimmery crispness of daddario back..even though they clash with under saddle piezo stick pickups. the industry needs to stop with those already .mmornat least fishman does. Their pedals are so good why does every guitar come stock with the worst pickup imaginable? Sorry I'm just rambling bc I can't stand them

K K pure mini and Journey epk0001 or whatever…the only acoustic pickups I'm putting in anything under $2k-.higher and the LR element. Only choices out there

  • I really wanna know what y’all think of Orangewood guitars. Like I know there’s probably some bias bc they don’t have dealers. But I’ve got an Orangewood Duke Live and this thing punches miles above its weight class. And idk if I can force myself to order a guitar online without laying my hands on it. I got lucky and found this one second hand. So I doubt I’d order one from Orangewood. But I’d like to hear y’all’s opinion on them. Maybe if they had a booth somewhere that y'all got to see or if y'all have any experience with them. Love what y’all do!

  • I have trouble with the actual winding on the wound G wearing away from bending the G… Martin are the worst, D'addario EJ16 are my "go to" strings they last and don't wear Ernie Ball Paradigm are a close second…and I play for hrs a day

  • Yes, I agree with John now. Although I use Americana GHS for Sunday sessions (about 3 hours each).

  • Martin Retro Monel strings.
A little too bright at first, but 30 min of playing warms the tone up and they last a loooong time.
