I bet Billy Strings would like one of these. 🙂
That guitar looks sick too…
wat gaaf is dit
How the heck do you get into making amps as a hobby?????
How the heck do you get into making amps as a hobby?????
I hope you managed to fit all the voodoo into the ken-fisher amp. We amp-builders have a saying "Ken knew it!"… "Ken knew everything". He knew that not only the type of screws matter but also the type of metal and the exact positioning. And dont use the wrong finish for the amp or it will sound bad.
That is so badass that I’m at a total loss for words right now
seeing the pride and smiles from David is awesome.
highly disappointed that the internals of the amp weren't shown..
Could just be a case mod for all we know..
I just built my first amp. I hope it sounds half as good is this little guy.
Dave seems like the amplifier version of the guy who offered Mike a variety of guns in Better Call Saul.
I’m an electronics technician, by trade. I desperately want to start building amps and pedals but have no idea where to start.
what an amazing sound
The amp sounds super duper great. From Australia
10:16 When he mentions " the iron " I think he is referring to the power and output transformers .
The " glass " refers to the 12ax7 triodes and EL34's Pentodes .
1960's Mullards are known for their midrange – a Reflektor made tube is reliable , but doesn't sound like a 60's Mullard .
.
However , 1960's Mullard EL34's are now priced out of this world . St. Petersburg winged =C= Svetlana's are nearly as good .
.
Outstanding sound.
Rock on
Fucking hell, it's almost impossible to make this amp sound bad! I reckon I would spend thousands of hours after initially getting it just trying to make it sound bad. What a peach! Beautiful amp!
Incredible
For a second I thought that was the guitar a friend had built in the 80s but that had all gold (coloured) hardware.
Same tiger body etc though, nice.
FACIT!
That sounds almost as good as a Pearson!
Some of the best sounding amps ive heard!!! Like modern classics! And such a good heart warming story ????????????
I heard like the first 5 seconds and you could tell immediately. That sound so sick.
I'd love to get an amp like that wow!
You’re wrong, that amp is only as good as my iPhone speakers
Amp sounds so good, it sounds good streaming thru YT on an old iphone… Wtf
Dave rebuilt my 6505 and good lord. I can't let it go.
Does Gordie Johnson know about these killer amps and the God of sound who built them???
Apollo sounds so good because it's low powered and can run the power valves/tubes flat out and get power stage breakup. A typical valve amp needs a huge volume to make this possible and if attenuated or power dropped via valve switching then it's still running a high power speaker(s) below optimum wattage. Apollo has a matched speaker for its full output.
How is the amp being mic'd up for the video? Just camera audio? It cleans up so sweetly!! Beautiful tone
I want just one
Wow! Even on my tater speaker I can tell it’s got chunk, thunk, balls and slap! So how much do they cost?
You did'nt play through that Trainwreck clone amp, it possesed you and took over your brain. If Dr Frankenstein played Electric Guitar instead if Violin he would have tried to build one powered by Lightning⚡⚡⚡⚡????.
How cool!!! ????
That thing is sic man. Awesome sound.
I'm gonna give the guitar it's share of credit as it's not a hondo or a first act obviously but at the same time i was blown away by the variety of quality tones that amp puts out! Im sure it would make a twin reverb look like an affordable alternative to the ( top of the line) and I'm sure im gonna get some backlash for a comment of this scale but really I'm dying to have it debunked by a valid argument other than 2 12s blastin out reverb thru a cabinet ….
What an amazing sounding amplifier. The midrange sounds really rich and engaging.
What a genuinely lovely human.
Is that the “unskinny bop” riff he keep playing?
This amp builder dude does not look like a nerd, but make no mistake….he is a nerd.
If this man needs someone to help build these amps, I volunteer!
This is just badass
Wow amazing amps and cool bunch of friends awesome vid
Who makes that tele?
Damn.. It’s got so much body but also so much clarity!
